Yes, our squad needs strengthening, everybody knows that, but man for man we are easily a match for Palace yet we were outplayed. At no point were we 'doing ok'. They have a new manager aswell, were on a small run of defeats and we just rolled over for them. The personnel are not bad enough to justify those tactics against Palace, they just aren't.I've admitted when I thought he made mistakes. I thought he would go with a 3 man midfield against Liverpool for example.
Personally I don't think we have the team capable of playing a 4231 tactic and think we need to revert to his Newcastle tactic of 541 with wing backs.
Against Palace. I thought we doing OK until we switched to a 4141 and thought that wouldn't end well.
I don't think he's invincible, but at the same time, individual mistakes have cost us quite a lot this season. The main culprit seems to be Coleman, as soon as we can replace him the better. Holgate and Delph are dog [Poor language removed] too.
If we can get in a destroyer to sit in front of our defence, a replacement for Coleman and another winger, it will improve us considerably.
So you are happy for him to spend a wedge on Benitez style players then and do not have a breaking point with being behind him?
Does the inability to defend set pieces not bother you? When he was in semi retirement in China tactics changed, set piece specialists figured a lot out and he seems a bit clueless tbh. After every defeat he says 'we knew' this, 'we knew' that, but why do his tactics not reflect that? Why are the performances so bad? And why is he alienating a player that clubs above us would be happy to have? None of this is a problem for you?
