….i recall being regularly told it was only the injuries holding us back, we have a very decent team when everybody is fit. There’ll always be one or two injuries and/or suspensions, the best managers cope.

I’m genuinely surprised at how poorly the team is being managed. We played a Palace team coming off the back of 3 defeats, yet the clear tactics was to allow them possession, consolidate and not concede; No press, instead forwards drop into their own half. No tempo.

Everton have won more points from a losing position than any other team in the PL. it’s a major stat as it shows we are poorly set-up and organised at the start of games. There is no getting away from that. We are more effective when we go behind & have to play more positively.

Only a very stubborn man would continue down a path that doesn’t work. This team/squad is better than most in the league, we are poorly coached.

You clearly have no idea of how Chinese football was imploding at that point and all meaning had left that league...if it had any in the first place.
Come on Dave mate we both know that not a single person on this forum, yourself included, has any idea of what the Chinese league is like other than the fact its where players and managers go for a payday.

He makes me embarrassed to support this club. A stubborn, arrogant man, with outdated and failing tactics. Never ever an everton manager.
I know what you mean but - it’s the results that are embarrassing, and the fact that we have had two managers in Allardyce and now Benitez who I genuinely never ever thought would manage this club, and I am appalled they have!
But never be embarrassed to say you support Everton FC! COYB!!!

I dont care who does the cleaning out and who's last man standing.

I KNOW where the real problem is at Everton and it's not the manager.
You don't know, you speculate. There are certainly problems behind the scenes but to say the current manager isn't a problem with the division and the performances is bizarre. He loses on all metrics when compared to our recent managers and our form would have him sacked already were he a Villa/Norwich/Spurs/Watford manager as evidenced this season, all of them benefiting from the change too. Perhaps they hold higher expectations than Moshiri and you?

also when the opponent sits off protecting a lead. When all is equal we are consistently second best and we start off as if nervously protecting a lead.

This ^^^^

That we , on the back of a morale boosting win against Arsenal , surrendered possession and the initiative to a team on a run of three defeats is in my opinion criminal. You don’t have to managed at the top level but if you’ve ever kicked a ball or even watched football for any length of time you can surely see that’s absolute madness.

14 scored and 7 conceded from non-penalty set plays.

A 2:1 positive ratio over a full season.

Appears to have been second in the league, only to West Ham.

This season is 2 scored to 7 conceded.

A 3:1 ratio against.

Quite a turnaround that really. If Jeremy Vine was stood at the swingometer, it would be 1997.
Ridiculous claims based on those.

Goals scored from set pieces down...do you think our best header of the ball who scored most of the 14 all last season not being available for all but 3 ganes had something to do with less goals being scored from feee kicks? Maybe?

As for goals conceded from set pieces, we are not rock bottom we are on 7 making us 13th in the league (and the absence of DCL from our own box impacts that) compared to 13 conceded last season making us 8th in the league.

You cant even read your own stats.
