Ancelloti's great start last season is the only stand out season there. Had the arse not fell out of the lads against Watford this season we'd be sitting on 22 pts with a GD of -4 which is in and around where we've been the last 7 seasons.

So the 2nd worse start to a season out of the last 8 then since we didn't beat Watford.

I don't think @Groucho is one of the 4 you refer to here and he was making a perfectly valid point about the mess the club is in (and has been for some time)

Let’s look at the facts shall we?

The current Everton manager is *checks notes* Rafael Benitez.

I hope he does well because that means Everton do well. Time to pull in the same direction. This mess isn’t his doing.

Edit: Also, as far as I'm aware, none of those seasons seen an injury crisis like the one we've had this season and none of those seasons spent only 1.7m in the summer. Yet we're only a few points off most those seasons

Well this was the post you were responding to.
I don't think @Groucho is one of the 4 you refer to here and he was making a perfectly valid point about the mess the club is in (and has been for some time)

I was referring to that post - but even so while the club has been in a mess, we’ve not seen the kind of form we are now witnessing.

So maybe our performance on the pitch - which is Benitez primary concern (not sacking the tea lady etc) has nothing to do with the ‘mess’?

It's not about sugar coating mate it's about having some rational thinking among the supporters and not being hyperbolic. Sacking managers over and over hasn't worked for us. Superstar managers hasn't worked for us either. Let's just give a normal manager a chance even when things get tough, let him get his own squad together and an injury free squad, if it's still crap after that then for sure get him out

In a way, yes it was. Chelsea are vastly superior to us with a huge squad of talented players. Few if any of ours would get on their bench, so yes I would hope you would have celebrated 1-1 at Chelsea. Even klopp said he did not recognize half of Everton's team at Chelsea. Satisfied??
