Tbh as soon as I read that bit about him punting that balloon Danny Murphy I didn’t need any more convincing.

Seems to be quite simple for him. If you can contribute to the squad he’ll use you, if you can’t he wants nothing to do with you. That will be the majority of this lot out at the first opportunity he has.
Doesn't stand on ceremeony with the players he brought in either. Dont do a job = out the door sharpish.

I's a good Job Benitez is doing a good Job then Dave. :hayee:
I think he is in total.

He's arrested a decline caused by severe injuries; he's laid down the law to ill-disciplined players and shown them who's boss; and he's working his way nicely through the bureacrats that have clogged up clear football strategy (Brands, scouts, physios).

I'd take that over a team that's 3 points better off and top half but saddled with the same safe culture of mediocrity.

Arrested a decline ?? 5 points from 33. OK.

4 points from our last 10 games mate (4pts from a possible 30) a fanbase that is split, and a manager who's tactics are extinct.

Unprofessional culture of finishing mid table?

So you want us to continue being midtable mediocrity for a further 18 months?
If it takes us that long to persuade players with bad attitudes to GTF out of Everton where they're not wanted and transitiuon to a good team that wants to give their all for the cause? Yes.

As said above: baptism of fire.

Did we really think we could evolve into something more professional with all the highly paid vested interests still in situ?

No.

This feller Benitez has the task of cleaning house, IMO. I think that's how Moshiri sees him. Get the pisstakers and wage thieves out and settle a team into a pattern of play that'll be functional but enough to get us safe easily each season.

Basically a reboot of the early Moyes era.

The problem is always going to be Benitez mate, he will always split the fanbase no matter what, the footy is crap and we're having results to match, how long can that continue with a fractious fanbase.

Sorry but how’s that acceptable long term? To spell it out in that way is depressing. Yeah I know it’s all we’ve known, forever now it seems, however it shouldn’t be something that we just settle for which is what is implied here. I struggle to understand how a staunch critic of the failures of Everton has chosen to hang his coat on the Benitez hatstand.

I cant see it being worse than it's got.

The second half of the season we'll have players back from injury; some spending done in January.

It would take average form from us to get top half in this league this season.

Some fans will continue to be fiercely against him, but we are past 'peak-pitchfork' moment for them. They'll just grumble while most will get behind any team that looks to give 100%.

It's acceptable to me in the context of the utter shambles of massive spending and low on-feild yield. It's acceptable to the owner given we are looking to move into a new stadium safely ensconced in the PL in 3 years time.
