So you say we should be happy to have benitez because he has won trophies in his past.

But you are disparaging wenger because he only won 3 fa cups in his last 5 years in management. What trophies has benitez won in his last 5 years?
I think comparing Wenger’s position against Benitez at Everton is a bit early... not a single thing moved at Arsenal under Wenger without his say so from who was signed to how many sugars were put in the directors tea.. Wenger controlled the whole of that club lock stock and barrel much like Ferguson at United.. Benitez would take years to reach thst sort of control.. am pretty sure the Arsenal fans were not happy with an FA Cup only towards the end especially with what they had dined on early part of Wenger’s career with them... same with finishing top four.. think they qualified about 20 years on the run yet they still never won a single Champions League even with the Invincibles..

Benitez achieved in his first season what Wenger tried his whole career to do... win the Champions League...
all I am saying is Benitez has it in him to do good things if people give him a chance and some proper money..

And how many times has benitez won the premier league compared to wenger? You were the one who mentioned wenger. I wasn't comparing them.

That wasn't my question to you anyway. So waffle away all you want, but you can't make claims about historical trophies for one and use the same argument against another.

It also wasn't the question from the original post which was 'Where/when has Benitez won anything when not a club with rich resources or a top squad already in place?'

I definitely think at this point he needs to prioritise our league position ,and quickly.
I agree mate but a couple of wins (yes I know that's a BIG if) from our next two games could see us taking a huge step away from those down the bottom and surely Benitez will recognise that the fans deserve to see their team having a proper go at the FA Cup?

what a thoroughly strange argument

That side Wenger built was the greatest club football team I've ever seen (only Barcelona 2010/2011 come close) and it was a pleasure to watch them.

That side that Benitez won the CL with on the other hand was dreadful, hence why we finished above them in the league.

This is something we are going to have to HOPE he provides.

There is no proof that he will be able to provide it is there?
No...and there never really is with anyone. They have to align multiple people, get them all going in one direction, have a deep enough squad and then there is form, tactics, injuries, the opposition. Lots of variables to work for you at the same time. No mean feat in any team sport.

Depends what the boss demands in terms of final league position and whether he believes he can manage his resources and achieve both.
Seems a dubious ask at present.

Yeah thanks for reminding us all of the inept performance's we have witnessed under this fella.

As you're a kopite i know you would love him to stay but he will be judged on results which is something he really struggles with:bye:

Tick tock.......
I agree.. he will be judged on results.. the difference we have is... when... he will be judged.. I think it will be after a few transfer windows and time to let them gel.. not before...

Nothing wrong with them having different points of view but you have made out like it's a bad thing and your more 'traditional' views are better.

You are also wrong, I share similar views to many posters on here who you would define as having more 'traditional' views yet I am a SKY Sports brigade by age.

You were talking about the club and owners, not players fella. You know, the club and owners who are all about money, the same as Sky.

Wenger’s team greatest football team you have seen? o.k. I think there will be many older fans would disagree with that..
