Morning all. I'm new to the forum (Rangers supporter with a long held affinity for Everton). It seems there's a fair amount of negativity towards Benitez, is this due to his general performance as a manager or because he's an ex-manager of the other Merseyside team? This is a genuine question, I've not paid a great deal of attention to his career and I know that this situation would be unlikely to happen in Glasgow.
It may be worth your while just reading a few pages back!

Oh and ask @Theoneandonly he will give you by far the most unbiased and honest appraise of the current situation regarding the greatest manager to ever darken our doors!

Welcome tho!

Any news on Michael Ball money?

Carragher says stuff for clicks. He used to rip Rafael to shreds at Newcastle and then share a helicopter ride home with him.

….ah, so you know Carragher was telling fibs on national TV.

i suppose he was also telling a fib when him & Gerrard brought Houlier into the Istanbul dressing room to join the CL win celebrations only for Benitez to go berserk because he didn’t want another manager associated with the win. They liked Houlier lots.

i knew i shouldn’t have believed that when I was directly told. So, Benitez is a gentleman with little ego who players adore. We have so much to learn from you & discount from those who have worked with him.

Thanks Dave, it's not that bad actually, he plays some decent tunes but it's his swansong that's beginning to get to me! Singing along to my old town by Springsteen. Anyway Dave, back on topic, how do you honestly see this season panning out with Benitez?
Benitez will stabilise this with the new players and injured returning.

Peak Pitchfork moment has disappeared...hence the squealing like stuck pigs from the BOAB.

…ha, ha, weird then that Carragher said; ‘he seeks confrontation, he actually thrives on confrontation it’s how he is’.

You’d think Carragher knows. I think he wants players who nod and don’t offer points of view, he wants players hanging on his every word. I ask myself how that must have worked with the likes of Gerrard & I think he’s cut from the same cloth.
I quoted the same interview with Carragher to egil olsen, Benitez is a divisive manager who thrives on conflict and is an unswerving devotee of the 'school bully' style of management.

Definitely quite a few.

I‘m still going, because my lad wants to go. I wouldn’t go otherwise.

I haven`t been for a good while now and won`t go again until he`s gone.

It`s as bad as Allardyce and that was the last time I stopped going.

At least with Allardyce you knew what you were getting, a dull, boring, highly organised defensive unit and a game that you could probably sleep through, knowing you`d get a point at the end.

Now, it`s like watching ten strangers on a pitch, who just appear to be lost.
