Mate, we've been round the houses on this. Every stat shows that we are worse at everything this year when compared with last year. Even you have said that. Your whole argument is "regression to the mean", which is basically stating that things will level off but you have no basis for that other than it has tended to happen before. If that is the case, then Benitez is an utter irrelevance and we could put anybody in charge and we would revert to the average. However, this time, unlike last year, we need to revert upwards. Last year if we didn't revert we would have had European football to enjoy, happy days, it didn't happen and 10th was a big disappointment. This year if we revert to the mean we will have you and Dave and some of the other mentalists making out that it is a sign of progress to finish exactly where we were last year with many, many fewer points, but if we don't revert we might get relegated. You are comfortable with that as a possible outcome because you aren't really invested in the community aspect of Everton Football Club, but those of us who are invested in that care very deeply about that potential outcome and it is reasonable for us to be concerned at the trajectory of our club. All of the actual data, not having a faith based "behind the numbers" view, point to us being a club in decline and that that decline has been hastened under the stewardship of Mr Benitez.

Now, you show me your "science" about how we are just about to turn the corner.
I've said it before, first and foremost it's the locals' club, and I respect that. That's how it should be. If it is between my and your opinion regarding the future of the club, then it is your opinion that should always be heard when it comes to EFC.

But I think due to injuries, lack of investment, inherited some problems from previous regimes, and attitude problems among the players, and the fact that I think Benitez is a competent manager, that he deserves a little more time. For Everton to become a competitive club, changes are needed, and right now it is difficult to get a more experienced and competent manager than Benitez.

Everton have become a mediocre club in the PL context, but expectations are as if they are a top club. It's not certain Benitez is the right man, but he deserves a little more time.

But results haven't happened since Koemans 1st season.

Since then its been a squad built full of suspect players.

Not saying Benitez is doing a good job at present but its astonishing how some can overlook the issues with this squad to bash the manager 24/7.

We all know if he was sacked tomorrow and someone else walked in they would struggle with the same bunch.

The media are hammering Utds players for already apparently taking the mick with Rangnick - like us they've had numerous managers yet still seem to have problems and it ultimately comes down to the players attitudes/commitment levels week in week out.

Jesus mate.

All you do is passionately defend Benitez and passionately hammer Graham Potter on here. It must be exhausting for you…I think I’m actually impressed by it now.

What's he doing calling out Reidy. That's a fight he's going to lose in every sense.
The Rafael-n-Reidy Royal Rumble! ??

Rafael -in the red corner, obviously- lands a few haymakers before walking away, Reidy tries to give chase but is frozen solid with PTSD flashbacks to Maradona 86, spotting his chance, Rafael moves in, goes full Evander Holyfield after mistaking Reidy's ear for a lump of ham; Reidy goes down and Rafael holds his half-eaten prize aloft, proclaiming himself as the undisputed Rafatollah now that he's the first man to lift a trophy since 95.

Only £13.95 on PayPerView!... (Think I'd rather watch that than us getting dominated by Hull for 90 minutes tbh).

Said it a few times I’ve never not gone the game without a reason , ever . Went years without missing games home or away . Missed one this year because I just couldn’t face it . Leicester is a struggle , dependent on Hull and the performance.

Renewing of my season ticket has been a formality year after year and despite how I feel I’ll probably do it again but this is the first time I’ll actively question how I feel about it .

I hate what they’re doing to me , to many of us , to the club .

Same mate, I’m taking a break from it starting with Leicester. Become a real chore going watching that dross he’s serving up week after week

His tactics are dire no matter how bad you think the squad is, 5 at the back at home against Brighton, he continues to play 2 in the middle of the park even though everyone else can see Alan and Doucoure are being run ragged. The man is a dinosaur.

I get his emotion though - imagine trying to do your best for the club whilst having naysayers like Kevin and Jakey getting on your back for coming down on players wanting out?

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with some of our fans.
If this is his best then it isn't good enough and he needs sacking immediately.

Also, tag me you bell.
