For some reason you're not allowed to compare this season under Benitez to last year mate.
Yet we're supposed to accept and lower our expectations under Benitez. lol

What they said was "results are what matter and benitez' results and his tactics are an absolute disgrace."
59 points is a damn sight better than whatever Benitez' results are getting us.
You can't argue with that so you're trying to change the discussion into whether 10th is a success but that's a moot point in the discussion of whether 10th is better than 15th which it absolutely is.

I wouldn't say that as such mate - I think fans need to accept two things though at present:
1. FFP problems means we cant attract a top level manager and back them with the dough they would want.
2. Whilst BMD is being built the owners wont be fussed if we aint fighting for top 6/trophies they'll just want a midtable team bringing in the PL Tv money.
I've always said finishing 9th or 13th means little to me - unless you're winning trophies or qualifying for europe midtable is midtable.
Now if Ancelotti cant get european football why do people think someone like Lampard could?
Benitez is EFC manager and I have no problem with that for the next 12-18 months whilst our financial situation is sorted/stadium financing is in place and the grounds on its way to being built.

I really dont understand what possible purpose it serves to publicize the Digne situation, and say he wants out, outside of pure ego. It does nothing for the club and just hurts the transfer stance, it seems it is just absolutely pure ego and putting that before the good of the club.

1. We've spent over 30 million so you can pack in using that as an excuse. We also have a load of wages off the books this summer so those problems will be alleviated for the next manager's first window.
2. You're assuming you know what the owners want but you haven't got any firsthand knowledge so we can disregard that entirely.
I see you're talking about 9th-13th when we're tied for 16th place and bottom of the form table. There's very little chance we are getting in those positions under this manager.
Who has said Lampard is getting us European football? Who is demanding European football?
All we want is to win some football games again which Benitez apparently doesn't have a clue how to do anymore.

Time to wind in the anti Benitez rhetoric. He hasn't covered himself in glory so far but what a pile of rubbish he had to deal with when he took over the team. Add to that the ridiculous and pointless DoF we had that produced eff all and just added to the garbage squad. We all know that surely. We have needed a reset for years so whoever got he job was up against it. Without DCL Siggy James Mina and Richy it has proven impossible.
Benitez now has basically has a limited transfer window and then 5/6 league games after the cup to save his and our skins. Lose them and he's rightly going to be on his bike and you will be vindicated. Not much time left for whoever then takes over if they have to - probably Ferguson - to keep us up. Slagging him off now is pointless. You may all be proved right but I hope not. Try and get behind the team for the most important 6 weeks in our recent history and hope he turns it around for all our sakes. It's a win win for the anti Rafael brigade. I'm sick to death of reading the bile that is spouted by fellow Evertonians on this site.
