At the time I would have said no mate but In hindsight both would have kept us up.

I imagine Silva would have still had us around bottom half that season but given time and better players in January window I think Koeman could have had us a top half side that season.

Ultimately bad recruitment killed both of them off.

Koeman 1st season - 7th
Loses Lukaku who isnt replaced
Koeman 2nd season - sacked

Silva 1st season - 8th
Loses Gana and Zouma who aren't replaced
Silva 2nd season - sacked

No coincidence imo but the fans (myself included) jumped on the managers back demanding their heads and calling them the worst managers they've seen at GP (something they now say about Benitez).

Something for many to ponder going forward.
I Was there at the end of both managers. Ended up in the bottom 3 after being battered at home by arsenal under Koeman . Under silva I could not see us ever winning another game and the derby battering was our saving grace as that was the end . People have short memories . I just want Everton to do well and as it stands Rafael is at the helm and regardless of what anyone thinks I support him and our team !

As said, if he gets us in those bottom 3 places you'll see how much I like Benitez.

We already know how much you dislike Benitez.

You just take these far opinions for a laugh and a windup. You're fooling no one David.

So does that mean 17th would be fine, but 18th = "fat man out!!"... it's a bit binary but I sort of get the logic, I suppose. Me: personally I was hoping that the team who slumped to 10th last year might do a little bit better than slightly above the drop zone.

He wasn't their DoF. He was a scout.

You can't say "nobody uses it here" then when told just about everyone does move the goalposts. They may get in a managers preference for a player or they may get in a managers chosen player. The point being the idea a DoF doesn't work in England is just blatantly false.
I'm not moving goalposts. Stop trying to score petty points. My view is that I'm yet to understand what a DoF does - and if it's anything like the shambles I've seen at Goodison I can't see it working for us. We may just have been unlucky with the fools we've appointed - but I have seen no benefit from them. And if they have the title at Chelsea etc then they must have a different remit to the position at Everton. Recruitment of first team players would always be in the managers hands. I would want that if I was in charge. May be different at Madrid or Juventus where 'coaches' are engaged - but I'm more old school and can't see this working at Everton.

All he did was correct you when you wrongly said the role doesn’t work in England. Take it on the chin and move on.

The only reason the DoF won't work at Goodison is because they have an owner who thinks he knows better than the people he hires. I don't exactly think Brands did a good job but the managers he wanted were Galtier or the Denmark manager or Ten Hag from Ajax. Moshiri wanted the opposite. For some inexplicable reason Moshiri wants "PREMIER LEAGUIE PROVEN" everything even tho every single time he's gone that route it's failed miserably.

I'm done with the DoF position. I cannot believe they would choose the manager. It's not a model I can envisage at Goodison.

We were beaten 1-4 in the Derby, have 19 points from 18 games and are currently on a run of 1 win in 13 games, with the worst form record in the league.
