Thought the initial setup was ridiculous to be honest. There was a moment early on when Gomes and Allan both pressed but the defence stayed back and we had no midfield whatsoever. Similar things happened regularly against Brighton - I'm not sure any of the midfielders in our squad can play that position in a two. It's crazy.

I remember when Everton struggled to win a single away game and never came behind from going down. It was 12 months at one point wasn’t it without winning an away game?

For all the negativity this season it’s been one of the few were going a goal down doesn’t immediately mean the game is over.
Take a look at most of the games in the league matches, it usually does mean the game is over.

Doesn't fit the narrative mate - were all the worst bloos ever cos the Beni bumboys say so, especially those who tried to do something about the terminal trajectory the club is headed during the match against arsenal.

I'm more than happy with the win - the vast majority of the 120 minutes I can live without thanks very much.

That's the thing mate, I'm happy with the win, the performance, meh.

This is the bit which I just can't get my head around – and sorry if I keep going on about it – but doesn't the fact that our problems predate Benitez tell you something that maybe getting rid of him won't actually change anything?

Problems do predate Benitez. However Benitez had made it worse and they werent as bad as it is now.

The only thing that disappointed last season was not getting a European spot by 3 points.

We'll be lucky to get enough points to stay in the league comfortably now

That's purely due to the manager.

No mate. Not at all. I lost faith in Ancelotti in about March last year. Before that I was pro Ancelotti.

I'll take no lectures on backing a manager from you or anyone else. I even backed that divvy Koeman for his first season.
So you lost faith in Ancelotti when we were 5th or 6th in the league because we lost 2 games, but are fine with Benitez having us 15th and falling fast, after 1 win and 8 losses in 12

Proper weirdo you.

It'll take Benitez 3 windows to get on top of this.

The first one in the summer was measly finance wise, but high in value.

This window is ongoing but looks healthy in terms of youth and attacking intent from the back (though my reservations in this respect are well documented)

The summer window we'll need to see a lot more players encouraged to get out and a big sale (Richarlison probably). A few more will be added.

Basically, come the start of the new season we'll see a transformed first team from the one inherited by Benitez in June of last year...and it cant come quick enough.

You cant get shut of the tat overnight and replace them. Patience is required.
He won't last that long if he can't get results in the meantime. You can blame just the personnel, but his coaching, tactics and set ups are prehistoric

We just go behind more often.

5 times in 21 games we’ve scored the first goal. Pathetic.

Again, this was pointed out by the pundits very early on.

They called it a weird “ semi pressing system “ that was neither one thing or the other.

It’s almost like they don’t watch the games afterwards and analyse what went wrong ??

Our pressing game is incompetent to the point of comedy. In an age where teams of all levels seem to be able to do it to some sort of competent standard we still look utterly incapable of doing it.

Yeah but it was a win against a team trying to stay in the division below us.
