And both of those managers had some very good players.

Koeman had Lukaku & Gana the season he finished 7th

Silva had Gana, Zouma and at the time quite a few of the top sides were underperforming I think Burnley finished 7th and Leicester had Puel as manager and finished 9th or something.

This squads an embarassment truth be told - not one player we have is on the level of a Lukaku or Gana - I would even take a young Barkley and Deulofeu over most our attacking players / midfielders.
And neither of those managers - even in their bad/sacking seasons - had a run like Benitez has had us on. Nor did either make decisions as inexplicable as theirs have been.

Well Dave said he lost faith in Ancelotti when he had us in 5th or 6th, soooooo…..

But even putting that aside, he’s not as good as Koeman or Silva either, by those numbers.

Sample is too small though and ultimately irrelevant. Koeman and Silva both got 18 months and a lot of money and had us in the bottom 3. If Benitez has us in the bottom 3 in December next season after spending a load of cash this summer then I’m sure he’ll be fired as well. That’s the reality of Moshiri‘s ownership.

Koeman inherited Stones Barkley Lukaku and got given a shed load by Moshiri to spend. That’s very different from the squad Benitez picked up and the money he’s had. I’ll wager though that we won’t be in the bottom three next January and Benitez won’t be getting fired.

Looks like the Leicester game will be cancelled so Norwich (away) is next up.

If we can’t beat them, then lard arse and his staff should be sacked before getting to the changing rooms and not allowed on the coach back

No, we will be top of the championship and benitez will already be unemployed.

Unless he very quickly turns it round. I fear that if he carries on with performances like tonight (yes we won aet, but perform like that against PL opposition and not championship relegation fighting teams and we get beat), moshiri is too stubborn to let him go before it's too late.

Do you believe that there isn’t a manager (who we could attract) that could have got us more than 1 win and 8 losses from our last 12 games?

If Keane and Coleman could stop booting it into their own net for one game, and we could actually see DCL and Richarlison on the pitch together at all this season then we won’t have any issues with being near the bottom three.

Benitez is almost a magician, his Everton side are the most ultra defensive, unadventurous Everton team I have seen, and yet, the one with the worst defence. Takes some believing.

This is a pertinent point. We're conceding a load not as a result of a proactive, coherent tactic of being too positive - as you say we are somehow doing while still being totally passive and defensive. It's impressive in a way.

We can't judge him till he has all his own players, or so I've been told mate. :hayee:
And no injuries, and money to spend in 3 transfer windows and the fans need to get behind him. It’s not fair to judge him until he has a run of at least 15 games with no injuries. Did I miss anything, I’m sure I did, the number of excuses the Benitez fan club come up with are ludicrous.

Koeman and Silva got fired based on expectation as well as poor results. You spend north of a £100mill at any club having finishing in a decent position last season, and stare down at the bottom 3 by Xmas.... you're getting fired - see Villa for one.

But you're saying cos Benitez has spent nothing, he's automatically withdrawn from the same treatment even though he's performaning worse that all his predecessors since Moyes 2nd season?

If you even take transfers out of the equation... Ancelotti only spent £60million and finished 10th. Rafael will be spending £30-£40mill (if Jan rumours are true) to finish nowhere near that....
