No I'm saying he was better under Carlo for a longer time than any other point that I can recall. Don't get me wrong he's an average player, but good managers improve players - or at very least get the best out of them for as long as they can, not take them backwards. Hard to find anyone Rafael hasn't taken backwards, otherwise we probably wouldn't be 15th.
Gordon has improved massively but that may also be due to his age.

I agree Jaffa hasn’t set the squad on fire, but injuries haven’t helped him, not making excuses as we should be higher in the league, losing to the likes of Brentford, Watford & Brighton is inexcusable although it's some part down to defensive tactics alot of these defeats have been down to individual errors and Jaffa can't manage that.
He should do much better defensively. It's a major concern since mid-october and it's not getting any better.

Injuries or no injuries

There has been steady decline, this is true BUT this season has dropped off a cliff. I cant believe the side that was in contention for Europe for most of last season is now relegation certainties that goes on runs of 1 win in 13 or 6 points from 36.....

Yes decline but this season is pure negligence on behalf of this manager, tactics rubbish, team selections rubbish. He has no idea and about time we give in to him and give him the pay off he craves... What an absolute kopite legend this bellend is, even more when we are down or he gets sacked.

After Benitez I say we take aim at Moshiri, incompetency of the highest order, get the stadium built and F off...
Utter nonsense.

Let's look at the recent run of form - not great but more an indication of form than 3 months worth of football. The last month:

WLDL and a cup win thrown in.

The bottom 4 between them have won 1 game in that time period.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves with the relegation talk.

Getting a 1-1 at Chelsea with the players he had available is commendable. But nothing is going to satisfy the Rafael out brigade. It seems to me those want Rafael to fail and that means Everton fail which is repugnant to me. If Rafael succeeds that means Everton succeed. Wanting them to lose matches so he can be sacked is extremely sad.

I dont think we will go down.

But lets get it straight, the recent run of form is not "not great" it's garbage.

There is not one person on here who wants Everton to get beat.

Well maybe one depending on the team we play.

Gray and Gordon haven’t regressed they have improved. The squad is full of turds mate and you know the saying, only so much polishing one can do.

Gordon has improved massively but that may also be due to his age.

Haven't seen enough of Gray at Leics or Leverkusen to know if he's better than he was, but he's certainly 1 of our better performers so far, no doubt.

As for Gordon, I wonder how much of that is down to natural progression and development now that he's finally getting regular games vs a testament to Rafael's coaching. I'm not saying Rafael should turn them all into world beaters but we're talking about a so-called elite level manager whose been at top clubs and won top trophies. You shouldn't have to be Jurgen Guardiola to at very least get break-even levels with the likes of Carlo & Co who had largely the same group. That team looks completely lost from one week to the next.

He has to do better. Stop giving away those cheap goals.
Conceding first is not a great tactic. Unless you want to get rid of fans with a weak cardiovascular system.

I hope that is the case. I just want us to be successful but I am a realist and from the nightmare of the last few years of acquiring dross it's not going to be a quick fix and it's going to take at least a couple of seasons whoever is in charge. To get Top 7 with this crop you would have to be a miracle worker.

Oh that’s fine then. Happy days no relegation but we are still absolutely poo ? Maybe if our gallant leader continues for another season or two we may challenge mid table. How thrilling ;)

Yup. Its absolutely appalling and that is an objective truth based on, well, the results and the performances.

No I don't think we'll go down but it's also not ridiculous to say our form for a majority of this season has been relegation level.

A good few pages where we've largely just discussed @davek, we're all losers here.
@davek is just a contrarian/wum, most on here know that. I just like getting him on something and watch him try wriggle his way out of it.
The real problem are the posters who genuinely think Benitez is doing a good job and defend him to the hilt.
@Saint Domingo @ForeverBlue92 @4737carlin sorry if I've forgotten anyone.
