Maybe he is but he's in charge so not a lot anyone can do.

Reading the Bernard quotes today says to me that others are to blame for the mess the club is in. I presume he is on about Kenwright.
Results are the number one business for a football manager, if your getting them you can pretty much do what you like. If you're not, then picking fights with our better players and criticising the fans only ends up in disaster for all of us. The man is a menace.

I feel confused a bit, on the one hand, I think the place did need ripping up top to bottom and getting our identity back. I have said often the players earn far far far too much money, a lot of them get paid more than their talent indicates they should and the last few years of half arsed performances have proper driven me insane and put me off football, a sport I've loved all my life until the last decade.

On the other hand the way it is being implemented, by the most divisive manager they could have chosen, Is absolutely mind bogglingly bad and could be disastrous if allowed to continue unchallenged. I'm already resigning myself to relegation, a tad hyperbolic but I am worried.

So as always we are doing the right thing the wrong way.
Err none of that has changed mate

Yes indeed, if he's the long term incumbent I've less of am issue. If he's the scorched earth guy who leaves after 1-2 seasons (likely given his recent track record) its 50/50 the club are left in a good position. All depends in the signings and base left.

Lads I see what Dave is getting at.

We’ve all asked for ages for a manager who wouldn’t be walked all over and now we’ve got one we want exceptions making for “players we think are sound”.

Can’t have it both ways.
There is a marked difference to a manager 'being walked all over' and one that wants to watch the world burn if his ego gets damaged.

And I think there were plenty who would've been happy with someone more progressive to build a different culture around the club. Patience and building have been the watch words, not complete destruction and alienation.

With multiple contracts expiring over the next few seasons we could be using this season to develop youth, a style that entertains and attacks and bring in young prospects (which I'm pleased to see we have done with the LB and RB).

What we have is a manager who thinks we are a small club, treating us as one and creating division, through his statements and media contacts, between 'true' fans who are happy to support him and those that don't.

Surely that's more aimed at the Delphs, Gomes, Tosun's than one of our better players who plays week in week out?

Let's not forget this all stemmed from Benitez having a man child like wobbler because someone questioned his tactics after 1 win in 8.

Additionally Digne hasn't just sat about on a big contact either he's gone at the first sign because he can't work with the manager (he's worked with all the previous ones).

So if Digne was the issue...the problem hasn't gone.

I rate Potter highly and advocated him on here in the summer, but frankly he would have been absolutely wasted here as things stand

Brighton are an exceptionally well-run club with a fantastic transfer strategy and run by very good football people with a coherent strategy. Potter is able to focus on his team and there's a clear division of responsibilities with the people they employ. They're not a huge club, so a lot of this goes under the radar but they are an excellent example of how to run a modern club.

We, on the other hand, are the polar opposite. The shambles we are is a model to the rest of football as to how not to run a club. As much as I like Potter, he'd have failed here miserably because of the same issues that have undermined every regime we've had in the last 7 years. Until that is addressed, it doesn't matter who the manager is, they'll fail, it's just shades of grey we are arguing about.

He would failed miserably taking the players we have at the moment to play football. However, you would actually see an attempt at a rebuild and something with an idea. Which is what fans would actually appreciate and give time too.

At the moment we don't even have that. There's not belief that Benitez can rebuild Everton

Yet more homophobia.

There's something nasty going on here.
Ignore their sniping, Dave.

This might cheer you up. Like the rest I was a big fan of our Villa mate giving you a pet name last night and so have lovingly created this for you.

Benitez will be happy if his harem follow your lead and are known as 'The Sausages' from this point in. x ?

Lucas Digne, professional who has never caused trouble versus Jaffa Benitez who is renowned for causing issues as soon as he sets foot in door. Ruined Inter Milan, a triple winning side, within 6 months; tried telling the worlds greatest striker how to lose his marker. A man who uses the media to push his own narrative.

I know who is the god guy in this scenario and certainly isn’t the manager

Think that’s how most of us feel. This next season or two we’re always going to be pivotal - some big earners contracts expiring, some players with value getting into the last couple years of their contracts, some deadwood to sell…

A chance to reset and rebuild for whoever we appointed…and we gave it to Rafael. The owner and the board deserve everything they get, the fans on the other hand don’t.

Right thing wrong way, as you say.

I'm not saying players don't need a kick up the arse and if they aren't committed to us then they should be volleyed, the problems arise if you have a manager with an ego and a bit of an attitude, that then in the long term can become a problem.

His message always seems to be if it is has gone wrong it was some one else's fault, if gone well All down to me.

Boss man coming down hard on all the grifters at the club and the pips are beginning to squeak.

And dont forget this:

WE ALL WANTED A RECKONING WITH THIS SQUAD OF BOTTLERS WHO TOOK A KINGS RANSON IN WAGES AND GAVE F.A. BACK TO THE FANS.

All power to Benitez, as he's the man who's attempting to salvage and build from the utter catastrophe that Moshiri, Brands and Koeman landed us with.

It was a love affair though Dave, Lucas and Bernie said so….

This is a load of rubbish sorry, they managed to play football before arriving at Everton, they must have done to be Premier League footballers. It's a very weak lame excuse for the manager being a tactical coward.

Sell any of our players to say Potter and I bet they can play football. They may be crap as a unit and such but individually they are top flight pros, saying they can't play football is laughable.
