Never should have been hired but was willing to give him a fair crack. Good initial signs of having us playing more combative, forward thinking football. Injuries were bad so when results first started going downhill I was optimistic that things would get better

Since however, he's just shown he's finished as a top level coach with some of his decisions. Chiefly, insistence on 2 in midfield when we're constantly overran and exposed there.

And lastly, he played up to all the old Benitez tropes, creating a him against the world narrative, sheer stubbornness that has seen Rondon thrown under a bus several times, falling out with key players... I didn't mind us selling Digne, there was business sense to it but the utter sideshow Benito made of it was an absolute disgrace to the club.

Have it on good authority that the human Rafael outside of football is a nice guy, but stick him in a coaching tracky or a suit on a touchline and he's an odious man. In a bit.

Got a real horrible feeling now that Moshiri will give Benitez the Villa game hoping he can get something out of the game but knowing that if we got beat there is a 2 week international break to get him out.
Once it gets to this point, there's no saving it. Pointless to keep him for that game. We need a boost to get anything out of that match, of which I'm actually attending. My first game in a while to lose to Gerrard, amazing stuff

Well I concede the brands part of my post lol but the crux of my point remains regarding moshiri and sacking managers when the public becomes restless
It is a massive dent to his ego if benitez is sacked, seeing as he went against everyone at the club to make it happen. That's what worries me most. Will he be willing to accept he got it horribly wrong or will he dig his heels in to try and save face?
