"Fixture list has been relatively kind". I wonder how many times that will be trotted out to excuse avoidance of any credit for the manager and his team? Unlike in Scotland there are no easy games where you are sure to win in this PL. Having said that, there was an earthquake in Scottish media, when Celtic just LOST to Ross County who would not do well in our League Two. The PL is the toughest league on the planet.

Fixture list has been relatively kind. I'm guessing we will be 8th/9th after 10 games and may slip further. I hate tippy tappy almost as much as I hate hoofball. There needs to be something in the middle and Benitez isn't the coach to find it. I wanted the manager after Ancelotti to be the one but I'm not convinced. However as I say if he starts showing that he's learning I will put my hand up. No more Burnley esque starting line ups and better substitutions than against Villa will convince me.

The problem is mate our fanbase has zero patience these days

The manager was given barely any money to spend this summer, he's had a lot of injuries to contend with early doors and it takes more than a few weeks to be able to build a solid team who know how to play the way you want it's not an overnight change.

Fixture list has been kind but Man City just drew 0-0 with Southampton yet beat Arsenal 5-0. Spurs beat Man City 1-0 then lose 3-0 to Palace.

If football games were won on paper the bookies would be skint.

He didn't have much too spend but inherited a squad with 3 CBs who cost over £20 million and some other decent players. In theory he shouldn't have needed much. We were in for that Portugese midfielder would rather have used that money for a RB. There was obviously more money there than used. I agree games aren't won on paper but I imagine if we had played Arsenal's fixtures we might be a bit further down.

Interesting to note we have had two players not want to play for Everton recently, Kean and James, only for some odd reason some fans stuck up for one more then the other, cant think why
I think they stuck up for both but in unequal proportions and intensity. They both served as sticks to beat the manager with though.

Benitez is just doing what he was hired to do here. I'm sure he's delighted that James looks to be going, but not, I suspect, as delighted as Moshiri and the board.

Benitez is here as the fall guy, the club know that he can keep this rag tag squad in the prem, they also know that Benitez is unpopular enough with a section of the fans that he will be the one taking the flack

The past transfer window and the current shameless hawking around of James to any club that may have an interest are just the start. Moshiri is a businessman and has now decided that enough is enough when it comes to spending on the squad, I think in future its sell to buy.

I'm sure that Benitez was well aware of the situation before he took the job.
This is a great point mate. James is the first move, Richarlison, and Calvert Lewin will be next as they will bring money in. If Doucoure has a good season he will be in the shop window too. Exciting times for blues as these sales will pay off a big chunk of the deficit.

As soon as this stadium became a reality it was always going to be a change of pace. He and Uzmanov had to pony up some money for the first phase of the development. Regardless of FFP that was always going to make summer spends of late a thing of the past.

You are dead right: big names out the door. It should have started this summer with Richarlison but the transfer merry-go-round halted when Mbappe stayed at PSG.

Itls why all Everton fans need to get behind the manager. He's going to need understanding for the moves he makes within this new reality.

What's the SPL got to do with anything?

Benitez is clearly looking to move James, prior to January. He will most likely not move any other big names until the summer but we can expect to see a healthy profit on Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, and Doucoure come the summer. If Mina has a decent run and Digne gets back to his best we should make a decent profit on these too. Benitez has clearly been told there is no money and we need to work the value within the squad and find some decent lower price value. He clearly is a manager who has players he trusts so we can expect to see more players from his time at Newcastle and Dalian Pro.
