Lots have said that if he achieves certain things then they could come round to him. But some still throw that back at us and continue with the insults and baiting posts like we have seen today and yesterday. I've stopped engaging with them now because they dont listen to reason.

I'm not going to talk about him any more until he actually starts doing the things he needs to do (in my eyes) to earn the chance and respect. I've made my reasoned arguments since before we hired him but they just fall on deaf ears because apparently there's only one acceptable way of supporting the club and unless you go the match and clap him, you aren't a real fan.

thanks.

….no, there’s no level of success that will make me change my mind about Benitez’s appointment. For me, it’s not that he managed the Reds, it’s more that he publicly belittled my club whilst managing the Reds. We need to retain our principles and values & we shouldn’t have courted him.

I get your point about being ruthless in our commitment of acquiring the right person but it’s a big old world out there & I think there were plenty of options. I’m of a view that Moshiri wanted a safe appointment to get us through the ground development, rather than acquiring a progressive candidate who’d carry more risk.

I‘m on record as suggesting Benitez could do a decent job, but I won’t sway from believing he shouldn’t have been appointed.
Thanks for this also.

I agree with you Eggs, however I would be interested if you're now backing him or not, for me I would never have wanted him here but now he is I'm backing him as I want what's best for my team.
We've had a great start but I can see things turning nasty if we don't keep the momentum going.
I believe Benitez won't attempt to endear himself to us but I do believe he will be professional and do his best for us,time will tell but I think we've had enough upheaval of late and I for one hope he can improve our style on the pitch and get us in to Europe, those two things alone would be a massive improvement on last year.
When all said and done we don't have to like him but nor alternatively do we have to berate him if he's doing a job for us.
That's how I see it.

…I don’t quite understand the ‘backing him’ point, Matey. A few have mentioned this but I’m not sure I back any manager. I judge them on what they do, I like some more than others.

I do back Everton, though. I want Everton to win regardless of who’s in charge. I’m not berating Benitez, I’m on record as saying I accept he’s our Manager & I wouldn’t be surprised if he does a decent job. I feel a bit uneasy seeing him at our club & I don’t think he should’ve been appointed.

A sensible post ;)

Wouldn't remotely have the nerve to tell you you're wrong, mate, especially as you're one of the more thoughtful posters before you start typing, but just a couple of things:

Firstly, there are a lot of close friends of people out there who once probably said something nasty and hurtful in anger, but have been forgiven, and both parties successfully moved on. Also, you can hope for someone's success without necessarily having them at the top of your Christmas card list. We'd all probably give even Attila the Hun a hug and hearty slap on the back if he rescued us from stormy seas when we were drowning.

Just something to consider.

Well isn't that a glass half full post.

These Benitez threads are boss....Benitez has been discussed with the mention of Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and now Attila the Hun. Just waiting for Genghis Khan to get a mention :)

I will be.

Our new manager is bringing back Swansealona, where as your manager is ushering in Stoke City V2. I wonder what Rory Delap is doing nowadays? Would be a Benitez type signing.

Talking of Stoke, didn’t go to well for Swansealona tonight did it Bri ?

One point out of three games so far, oh dear.

Never mind though, I’m sure it’ll be lovely watching Swansea passing the ball around in League One.

Toodles x

Amazing Franco hasn’t had a mention, Rafael’s clearly modelled his management style on him
