Unless we get dragged in to a lower half struggle\relegation fight I doubt he'll be under too much pressure from the board or 'majority' of fans. It's not like the board have loads of money to 1. sack him or 2. give to a new manager to spend, so it'd be stupid to sack him prematurely just based on a few people losing their heads, as they don't like him.

I agree, it would be stupid. I’ve seen enough to suggest to me that at the very least, Benitez can offer us a degree of stability that we’ve lacked.

But given who he is, and given his appointment was greeted with a reception so lukewarm that even Sam Allardyce would’ve been disappointed with it, I honestly don’t know how it’s going to play out.

Our players don’t respond well to a hostile Goodison - which in turn only makes Goodison more hostile. We saw that play out on Saturday in spectacular fashion. If there are repeats of similar, one man will pay the price - whether justified or not.

I don’t know… I hope rationality wins out amongst the fan base, but I worry that once it starts, the end could come extremely quickly.
