I am assuming you and the other guy complaining halal meat have never actually been to an abbatoir. Because if you had, you would find that there is no animal cruelty, it is not barbaric and animals are treated very well. (apart from getting killed of course).
What happens is that the animals are herded from the pens into a staging room where they are hosed down to get excess dirt off them, then they are taken one at a time into the slughter box (this is so that the waiting cows don't get to see what is happening) they are then stunned with an air bolt to the top of the head which renders them almost unconscious and there throats are slit immediately.
The only difference between that and non halal beef is that there is no-one saying a prayer, and the cow gets killed by the bolt rather than stunned. Quite often the air bolt is insuffient to kill the cow the first time, so several attempts have to be made, all the time the cow is struggling to get away terrified for it's life - which is a bit more cruel and barbaric don't you think?

At the risk of sticking my neck out here.. my family are Muslim, I was raised as one.. a very modern one at that. It didn't last long as now I love my Bacon, Drinking, Gambling and Smashing Foof.

Ramadan's purpose is to remind people that they are lucky to have food and water in the first place, and the point is to give to charity the money you save on food. Although there's not much left if the family is anything like mine and prepare a tremendous feast every night.

I don't get people's gripe with halal food. As I understand it, Halal meat HAS to be slaughtered in a humane way (no suffering, eg. tasing cattle etc) and has to be hung up to drain all the blood, which in turn gives you better quality meat.

Also that video EFCNIK lined was utter crap. When the bloke said Men are allowed to beat Women I gave up.

Oh and Muslims are allowed to marry people who practise other religions, except the ones that believe in more than One God. Like Sikhs...

It is attitudes such as this, word for word that fuel the crazies in any such faith. Right wing propagandising bullies deserve the backlash they sadly unleash on everyone else with their extremism and Nazi mannerisms.
 
Yeah but we're douchebags Evertruvianman, that the poor lad has to deal with.. We need educating otherwise the river Tiber will foam with blood..

You eat it then.

If your from Austrailia then they use different methods of slaughter than most countries to prepare Halal meat as the animal gets stunned first,This is not always the case.

Im not against halal meat, i just don't expect it to be served to me if I haven't asked for it or at the very least been told it is halal meat.

Part of the blame game like in the 1930s, blame minorities and those on benefits for all the problems in society.
