It's high on the list of religious nonsense that's accepted without question by millions of followers. A torture thought up by a human & passed off as the work of a deity. The sabbath switches in Judaism runs it a close 2nd for me, in terms of its sheer idiocy.

Is it a great feat? Well having spent some time in Marrakesh during Ramadan then yes it bleeding is! & fair play to those who are disciplined enough to achieve it

I think it's incredible that people can do it, I certainly couldn't. Me and my college friends felt bad as we were organising to all go out for a meal and two people can't go as they'll be fasting. So impressive that they can do it though.

I've had to send Muslim employees home as they were working with tools & machinery & looked decidedly 'under the weather' due to lack of food/water.

I was also watching one of those real live cops shows on TV & an officer was unable to continue a chase on foot as he felt weak.

I've got no problem with religion per se (I'm an Evangelical Atheist myself) but when it prevents you carrying out your job then I think one has to question the validity of it.

It would be interesting to see a test case where a Muslim was refused a job on the basis that their fasting during Ramadan was likely to interfere with their ability to do the job. What do you reckon?

Fellaini is a muslim isn't he.

i lived in abu dhabi for a while and during eid they would slice a live goats throat and hang them up on the streets.

The religion of peace...

But yeah its nuts, fair play to them for doing it if they believe in it. Of course its complete bollocks, they shouldn't be given any extra special dispensation from work and we also shouldn't have it forced down our throats on our tvs and whatever, but I at least respect your average decent muslim for going through with it.

In 20 odd years time it will be as big as christmas for our nation. Up to you what you think about that.

Ramadan Mubarak to those GOT peeps taking part. It's a crazy tough thing to do, but I guess that a common bind between friends & family is all meeting up later & eating.
Interesting thought EDLNIK, don't think Islam will ever be a massive part of British culture. I certainly don't mind it, as I'm not against people having a freedom of religious expression (as long as it doesn't impinge on others) but it's like you're predicting an apocalypse!
