That's true McB, instead of charging interest they are charged a set fee for the duration of the loan. I wonder how Wonga & co would go on with that one. Charging of interest is considered usury in the eyes of Islam hence breaks the rules they live by.

From experience of living in Turkey and Egypt LOADS of them cheat.

It is an interesting concept though and anything designed to teach humility and help the less fortunate shouldn't be mocked.

I might try that with the student loans company, telling them I'm now a Muslim and therefore can no longer pay any interest on my repayments.

Interesting thought EDLNIK, don't think Islam will ever be a massive part of British culture. I certainly don't mind it, as I'm not against people having a freedom of religious expression (as long as it doesn't impinge on others) but it's like you're predicting an apocalypse!

Religious freedom is what's bang on in this country. But if Islam does implement itself more sizeably (as it will do just simply looking at birth rates and who's coming in and leaving the country) it might as well be the apocolypse for us at least. And I'm sorry but you're gonna have football thugs like The EDL going 'I told you so' just like they did with Lee Rigby's killer. I'd rather not have that.
