It's in their interest though isn't it, keep the workers at each others throats rather than fighting each others corners. It's worth remembering that most of the journalists in the national press are upper-middle class, who would rarely if ever come into contact with anyone from the working class.
Like I said previously in this thread, it's no surprise that those who form the rank and file of the BNP and EDL are from virtually identical circumstances as those who join gangs across the country, and those typically young Muslim males who are radicalised by these extremist preachers.
The fundamental cause is deprivation and poverty and it transcends race, colour and religion.
There's a crisis in the British state and this group are being scapegoated to deflect attention from that. The political and business elite have no clout anymore, exposed as a joke after the last few years. It leaves a vacuum where the likes of the EDL walk right into on the coat tails of the popularity of more mainstream jingoistic groups like UKIP.
That said, the EDL were dead on their feet before they exploited the shocking death of that soldier at Woolwich. Let's hope after their leaders eventually get arrested they'll scurry back under the rocks they crawled out from.
