I think you are mistaken. He was always going to spread the money around the squad.

Plus like I said. What matters is how much of this amount is paid now. Immediately.

If we have sufficient cashflow there is no reason why two others might not come in. Again. With part of their fees staggered/performance contingent.

Its the upfront fees that could hurt us if we end up paying too much and then paying interest plus on a player that is a flop and doesn't perform.

It's very speculative though, mate. We have no idea how much is up front/staggered/conditional.

But to the layman, all they see is that one magic number: the transfer fee. And I think Everton promoting this exorbitantly high fee is very telling.

FFP calculations give us an idea.

@the esk indicated earlier what he thought would be our net spend (THIS WINDOW).

I agreed with his assessment as he has a very good grasp of the economics.

Just because we don't know him, doesn't make him unknown, Martinez is likely very aware of him.

A lot of tin foil hats being sold in Liverpool today I feel..
The facts: Player bought, club release 9.5m price tag

The rest of the stuff being put up is just guess work.. get a flippin grip.

We signed a player.. this is good ffs.

Just because the club release a figure doesn't mean we paid it. How many times has a figure been released and then later it has been changed. I'm still not 100% what we received for Rooney.

Besides it doesn't matter. We needed a No10 and it looks like we didn't even make an attempt to sign one. Shocking but not surprising as I said this would happen in July.

Well it's really over my head mate.

Regardless of how much we're actually paying, what's worrying is what we're talking about paying. Or rather, why on earth we're talking about it.

Everton usually list fees as undisclosed. Much like the Lukaku signing, it seems we're eager to make it look like we're spending a lot. Because I think the board think it will kid fans.

You don't know, but you know it isn't whatever the club claimed it was ?

There is no way the fee is £9.5m. That's an inflated figure to make it look like we've spent something this window.

This board absolutely does my head in.

Will probably be 5m sign fee the rest to 3rd party ownership as South American players usually are. Would like to know who 3rd party is and how come were suddenly in South America doing deals. But enough of conspiracy theories and welome to Everton and good luck

If he's crap, he's crap but I reckon he's going to be boss.

Plus there's a ready made tune in "What's the story, Funes Mori." If we win nothing, we'll win best songs in the Premier League.

Like I said. We have a board like the Medici or Frank Underwood in 'house of cards'. @davek

They try and play our fanbase like a master violinist in an orchestra.

No one's fooled.

They couldn't sell Stones as they knew there would be riots at Goodison; if they tried and the house of cards would come crashing down.

People like @the esk and so on can see through the intrigues by looking at the finances.

The hard numbers speak for themselves and allow you to see whats actually going on.

Lets see how this deal is structured and who else we get in in the window.

Like I said, I'm comfortable if they stagger it. If they've gone out and laid out £9.5million in one lump sum I'll be furious as that would be idiotic.

If they've staggered it over 5 years payments and are quoting this 9.5million figure then we know its been bloated in the public statements as you imply.

To try and shut the fans up.

£9.5mil must be including us winning the champions league etc...

Amazing to put that figure out really... perhaps river plate asked for crazy clauses and that figure stated to appease their fans?
