Whilst it's possible that the basic fee made be spread the VAT , which works differently for players from outside the EU,and other tax liabilities , agents fees etc will have to be paid up front
Is there anything left? If the fee is very very small maybe but otherwise it's at most going to be a loan

The issue was river plate not understanding their players contract. What's the point in purchasing a second best option, if martinez wanted him then at least the club have supported him instead of saying no

I find that very very hard to believe that these sort of major things weren't known far earlier in the whole process.

I can't help but feel that there is something far stranger going on here.

If the funds are limited the club would have been well advised to walk away from the deal if this clause was unknown.
