There were major question marks over this player from some very reputable sources (Vickery etc.) even before the ridiculous 10m fee was disclosed.

Now we've got another potential Alcatraz on our hands - only this time we've spent 10m instead of a free transfer!

What other "reputable" sources do you speak of?

Just because some hack form the BBC who happens to live out there and watches the game says he doesn't fancy him doesn't mean he is useless.

Also stop comparing him to Alcaraz. One player has played for River plate a top Argentinian team the other was a journeyman in Europe who played mainly for average teams in average leagues.

Not even sure of that. I can remember we wrote on the OS that we sold AJ for £11m or something.

Methinks we are disclosing the high fee for Funes Mori as a defence mechanism for not spending that much more otherwise today.

No doubt, a lot will wonder why we only got Cleverly, Deulofeu, Rodriguez, the youngster that I've forgotten and an Argentinian CB, but adding in that without selling, and with one being officially 9.5m, it may be enough to convince some we did alright.

Actually we have done well, but we should still have sufficient funds for a decent player.

Williams is an outstanding defender and I agree at 30 he wouldn't have much resale value and I could have seen it happening if Stones had gone.
Problem with South American defenders is that they do tend to lose their heads at least once a game & often more (cf Sideshow Bob)
