to be brutally honest, for his first season i'm just hoping he'll be decent back up to start off with, then hopefully improve on that next season after a year in the league

He's better than Jags I say make him captain
starting on saturday apparently
Bench him for the rest of the season, let him run out his contract in the reserves, and let him leave as a free transfer (once we've broken his spirit ala "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest")It would be sort of sadistically funny if after keeping Stones despite bids from Chelsea and a transfer request, we dropped him for the Chelsea game.
Passionate, tall, commanding. Sounds like a leader to me. Time will tell whether he'll make it in the Premier League but you've got to think Roberto's idea is for him to succeed Jags and become captain alongside Stones.
Jags has at least another 2 years at the top in him and Stones won't be here beyond that point! We badly need this signing to be an eventual success and we'll need another one soon too!
he is by all accounts of people who consistently watched him play, not some jarg journo with satelitte tv. also he has a brother who plays striker who is a bit crap so who knows the naysayers may have lost their mori-ings....I thought he was meant to be quite pacy and very physical?
It would be fun to see him and Costa exchanging views..
I guess Roberto has never seen him playing in the flesh and has relied on video evidence. I was surprised by the vehemence of that BBC football reporter who said he was slow and lacks bottle. We will soon know one way or other.....
Martinez obviously has quite strong contacts in South America...he brought a number of players over when he was at Wigan, and before that as well, I think.
All of whom turned out to be stars of the world game.
