I see that Funes Mori made the Goal.com PL Team of the Week as one of three Everton players. (Barkley and Lukaku being the other two).

RAMIRO FUNES MORI | EVERTON 4-0 Aston Villa |

Easily thwarted a hopeless Aston Villa side, forming a solid partnership with John Stones, and used the ball with supreme confidence. Never even broke sweat.

Good on him.

Not understanding this thread atm, what the hell does what club he came from matter? He could be from Barca or Bradford, it's what he does here that counts.

Stones came from Barnsley remember, does that bother me when he calmly takes the ball of people and walks up-field with it? Not one bit.

There is a small matter Everton fans need to consider after the international week.
Funes Mori travelled from Liverpool to London and then on to Buenos Aires(13 hour flight) played v Brasil in a match postponed for 24 hours then flew to Bogota 6.5 hours and another 1.5 to Barranquilla played Colombia Tuesday night Wednesday morning England time in 30 degrees returned to Bogota, Buenos Aires,London,Liverpool played Aston Villa Saturday

Hope he's keeping his air miles!

I've just started watching Narcos and all that sounds like to me is good trafficking routes

I think he's really good. A couple of hairy moments but then Stones and Jags throw them out all the time. He's slotted in perfectly and seems to really enjoy playing for us. Long term replacement for Jags sorted with the minimum of fuss, well in Roberto. Now can someone put a decent corner on his head!

He will really benefit from a run in the team and as he gets that the mistakes will reduce. It will also give Stones more confidence and they lack develop their partnership. I do wonder what may happen when Jags gets back, I have a sneaky feeling we may look to move to a back 3. It's a good problem for Martinez to have as I suspect these 2 may be our best partnership.

....you shouldn't change your team shape to help solve a selection headache. RM has a difficult decision to make but that's how it should be with a strong squad. The advantage with Mori is that he's naturally left sided.

And regardless of the travelling, time / heat differences I thought he was steady and reliable on Saturday except for one small error which did no damage. His overall play gives Stones the freedom to go forward and get the whole team going forward as per Barkley's first goal

Poster to whom I was replying was saying that if Funes Mori will be a failure here we can still sell him to Primera Division for "tidy profit".

I am just saying that it's impossible, as financial difference between Premier League and Primera Division is too big these days, for any team not being Real/Barca to pay us more than we spent on player who failed. It's not a coincidence that you see Atletico/Sevilla/Valencia buying in England only on cut off prices, like with N'Zonzi having one year left on his contract and refusing to sign a new one.

The fact that I don't think he will be good enough for Barca/Real ever it's just a different aspect. And it doesn't mean I am criticizing him, as he is doing well for a newcomer from South America who was asked to to fill Jagielka boots so soon after arrival.

Not a very big difference though, probably biggest obstacle than money was the fact that van Dijk wouldn't be interested in being a squad player behind Jagielka/Stones.

Really don't understand what you're getting at here. Are you saying Funes Mori is a failure? If so, you couldn't be more wrong.
On the second point, are you saying that Van Dijk would have been a better signing? On the evidence I've seen from both players so far I would say that this assumption is far from proven. Or are you just saying that we should have bought a £13m player rather than a £9m player?

Just a baffling post altogether.

Given that he is a natural left sided defender, and the early signs are that he looks like he could strike up a partnership with Stones, is Jags a certainty to walk straight back into the team?

We have little experienced back up for the two CDs we play let alone a back 3
