I think he is doing as well as anyone could have reasonably expected him to do. He has come from a relatively small club on the other side of the world and he is playing regularly. He would have expected a wee bit longer to adjust to the different demands of the Premiership.

I'm not that bothered about him making mistakes; it's more that he looks like he's going to make a mistake all the time. He makes me nervous, just like Distin did.

I'm not overly impressed with him yet, put bluntly. But he has time to come good. I think people are forcing themselves to praise him thus far out of a desire to see him be actually good, rather than because he is good.

I think its the same when Spanish or Italian defenders first come to England. They need to be focused for the entire game as the speed of the match is much faster.

A good barometer is him playing for Argentina. Hopefully he can keep his place in the National Team. If he continues improving and fully adapts then of course he will be our future LCB but if someone like Galloway pushed him out then we could still sell him to a Spanish side for example for a tidy profit.

With Funes Mori going to any other La Liga team in scenario when we aren't happy with his performance for us we would have to accept a loss.

For the money we spent on him I would prefer Van Dijk clearly, but Funes Mori has plenty of time to change my mind. And transition straight from South America to Premier League is never easy.
