Not sure 'thick' is the word i'd use.

I'm similar. I partly love him. He puts everything into it, but you can see his limits. I reckon he has it in him to learn though so will definitely get better and better.

I'm still not convinced he's a good 'footballer' if that makes sense. A good defender (not perfect!) but not great at the simpler football things.

I love how he'll just pump it into the stands sometimes

No messing about

Yet he can be equally as frustrating when he can't hit a simple pass.

He's just inconsistent I think. Has a knack of being in good positions from set-pieces which is top, and he properly 'gets' Everton.

I like him and think he will improve under Koeman, but he's rightly not first choice as it stands.

This is exactly what I saw in his performance on monday night.

Minute 90 he gets ahead of the attacker and shields the ball to let it go out for a goal kick.

Pitch is very sticky and quickly realises it aint gonna go so he turns around to play it. No sin so far.

He then attempts a short pass, i think to Biglia, that goes straight to unmarked venezuelan striker, still inside the box.

Venezielan striker miscontrols, more out of the sheer shock of the utter ineptitude he had just witnessed. Chance passes.

That was just the highlight of a litany of poor passes.

As a River shpporting friend of mine said to me... Funes Mori is a great inspiration to the kids. You now dont have to be good at football to get on the argentine national team.

Has 3 or 4 mistakes in him every game, but the mistakes are to do with his football abilities rather than mental lapses that can be fixed over time

he definitely has 'mental lapses' though mate - i.e. vs WBA the other day.

Don't get me wrong though, I like him and think he's a good player. Just isn't good enough to be first choice but alongside somebody like Williams/Jags does look more solid.

Don't mind him, good sub for Jags or Ash, and he is a bit edgy nothing wrong in that, not all opponents are going to take one for the team and draw him to rash challenge, they will be more concerned about getting hurt than the football.

Won't you mention how he annulled Rondon throughout the game (who switched to Otamendi's zone and there created VZL's second goal) or all the key tackles he made because of constant poor positioning by Rojo/Otamendi?

And I bet your last sentence is as real as some guy's "injury" in your last derby.

The guy that said that was to me was around for a parrilla with his missus and kids last Sunday. I froze my nuts off outside. My mate is chaqueno. I did not quote what my Boca friends say as they are not objective, in my opinion. I nailed the pork ribs on some lena that the guy in the leneria told me is the shot for smoking pork btw.

I also thought that Otamendi saved RFMs butt a couple of times so there were two of them in it in the centre. The media here were all going nuts about the attack - except Pratto - but it was the back 6 that really sucked.

Agree that Rojo was beyond abysmal. Ni hablar de la mentira de Mascherano Y DiMaria!!

Dont get the derby injured reference. I could not get out of work to watch the last derby and never watched the recording as my mental health is not that robust.

Fuiste indagado con lo demas de la hinchada de River con Pasrarella?

Curious one is Ramiro. No idea how someone can be so good at attacking headers and so useless at defensive ones. Like him but he definitely needs to kick on, the way Rondon for example got the better of him can't be allowed to happen.

It is a positioning problem. From a corner he can always set himself up to get the run and leap onto the ball if it comes into his area, when we are defending he gets drawn to the ball and has to make up his position quicker before the ball comes in.

He is a funny one. I like him, I do but I don't think he's that good to be honest. His defensive positioning can be atrocious at times and he gets drawn to the ball because he wants to put the tackle in. One thing that annoys me when I watch him is when he scuffs his clearances or passes, it should not be happening as often as it does. For a defender who was brought in with supposedly decent skills on the ball his passing out of the back is questionable at times and when he goes off on a run it rarely works out and he puts himself and the team in trouble on occasion with them. For all that, I like his passion but I can understand why he is 3rd choice under Koeman (He arguably was last season as well).
