What a strange video, all attacking and no defending. At least he can head
Whoa whoa whoa there, Alcaraz could head. It was the Premiership defending he was crap at......

should we bring in another Argentinian so he isn't on his own in a new country,Ardilles & Ricardo Villa like signing.off the top of your head ,anyone know any Euro based player to fit the bill............Lionel ?

Nah, he's surrounded by Spanish speakers (Martinez, Deulofeu, Mirallas, Oviedo), so they should give me his number and I'll take him to MEET on Brunswick Street. He's paying......

Could be Thiago Silva mark 2

Could be Atonlin Alcaraz mark 2

Let's see.

Seriously though, very much this. He may be garbage, he may be ace. I know relatively little about him. And by little, I mean absolutely nothing. At all. Whatsoever.

Vickery clearly not a fan.

The key problem here is Argentina's lack of defensive pace. The first-choice centre-backs, Ezequiel Garay, Nicolas Otamendi and Martin Demichelis, are not blessed with great speed. Otamendi is the fastest of the three, but many will recall how he was horribly exposed when pushed out to right-back against the Germans in the 2010 World Cup quarterfinal.

There may be some hope on the horizon in the figure of Villareal's Mateo Musacchio, but he has been cruelly hit by injury. Certainly the only newcomer in the Argentina squad, River Plate's Ramiro Funes Mori, would not seem to provide the solution. Argentina's dearth of options in the position is highlighted by the fact that Demichelis has been called up once more. The Manchester City man, 35 in December, had announced that the Copa America would mark his international swan song. Martino has persuaded him to carry on for a while longer. But while Argentina field such slow centre-backs, there is a clear consequence on the performance of Messi.

Tim Vickery might be on Talksport this afternoon, got a lot of time for his views. If he is I will report what he says.

Yep usually Wednesday PM between 2.30 - 3.30 , Hawksbee and Jacobs - not that I ever listen to the show

Also rules out van Dijk though.

That said, made up it rules out Jonny Evans obviously.

Could be decent, could be awful. Got a feeling we won't know really for a good 12 months either way, much like Besic who we still simply don't know about.

We'll still pick up van Dijk with the Stones money.

I have heard the font of all South American football knowledge ( with due deference to yourself Moomin ) talk on the subject of Mori before. Lets just say he wasn't his biggest fan.

Well, he will be cover for Jags and Stones ( hopefully ) still fairly young and if has an EU passport we will give him a fair chance.
