Does he actually have an EU passport?

According to an interview in this website from 2011, neither he nor his brother have an EU passport... http://sabotagetimes.com/football/the-new-hernan-crespo-river-plates-funes-mori

‘I had a trial at Chelsea,’ he recalls with a smile, an opportunity which came about after he won a soccer reality show in the USA. ‘I remember watching Lampard and Drogba training, it was incredible to see them close up, it’s something I’ll never forget. I trained with the under 18s and played a training match against Wolves. I scored.’

Not holding an EU passport meant that Funes Mori, both Gabriel and his twin brother Ramiro, couldn’t stay in England and the family soon returned to Argentina after an eight year spell living in the USA. But now he is approaching the time to move to Europe, he is hoping to find a club in the Premier League.

Hopefully its wrong or out of date info and he now holds a nice EU passport...

At 5 million it isn't to much of a gamble, I think if we were looking for someone to be coming straight into the first team (replace Stones) then we would probably be looking at less of an unknown player.
I think he will be used in a similar way besic was last season, brought in when needed and given the time to get himself settled into the premier league.
Even if he is a flop we can sell him to Mexico or Argentina or Spain for probably 3 million so im happy with this signing

This article is from 4 years ago and is about his twin brother, but indicates neither of them had EU passports at that time. Reasonable to assume that hasn't changed.

If he has been playing in Argentina for the last four years, I can't see how he would have obtained an EU passport.

@Woolly Blue lock the thread now mate, he does not have an EU passport.

It was fun while it lasted, what about that Boyce fella?? Is he still available??

The feller's just won the biggest prize in South American football and been called up to play for Argentina.

Maybe someone should tell his managers a massive mistake has been made because some pencil pushing tit called Vickery thinks he's garbage?

Ha, typical. Just as I thought I'd found a good link, someone else posts it 30 seconds earlier!

Yes, Carlos Kickaball.....made up we have signed a cool sounding foreigner I have never heard of rather than a 10 year prem performer with a boring name.
