Says it all that he was our best centre back. Anybody suggesting Keane, Jagielka or Williams are better is off their head. Would rather play Schneiderlin at centre back than either of those, and he'd be pathetic back there. We best have players on the verge of joining us, that's all I am saying.

The total salary of just those 8 players is 800k a week.

Agreed Ramiro is not a 'top 4' defender, but he was better than other CBs we've still got, the right age/experience profile, our only naturally left-sided CB and unlikely to be on huge wages - so all that considered very surprised he is the first to go unless it was either a deal simply to good to turn down on the basis of what the squad may look like come season kick-off, or they felt his knee was too knackered.

Wasn't good enough, undoubtedly had a lot of passion which we all like to see but he was an utter dunce. That red card at Anfield summed him up completely, couldn't be relied upon during big pressure moments. Central defenders have to be most disciplined players any team.
He'll do well in La Liga I feel but getting £17m for him, if we indeed have, is tremendous business. Now get someone in whom we can build around with Keane.
