RB Leipzig

Also recently sacked an underperforming manager too ;)
And hired a young up-and-coming one, and everyone involved in the club (including the fans) are confident that it was a good appointment. We should adopt their transfer policy of only signing players under 23 years-old, but honestly I wouldn't entrust us in buying the right prospects tbh considering how woeful our recruitment is.

Won't be signing any of them under Benitez! Far too young for him.

Frustrating how literally every club in the league takes a punt every now and then while we only have Godfrey to show for the half a billion that could've been spent on potential stars.

I suspect with us there's both the pressure to be successful right away (sign experience) but also the image of a big club we want to show under Moshiri (high profile signings like Rodriguez etc). Little bit of a hard position for us to market ourselves.

If Moshiri wants us to sign high-profile players simply because we're a big club, and not because he wants us to be more successful, then he's even more portentous than I thought.

RBL Matchday

Swiftly onto the next game in what the German's call their "English week" of football before the Winter break and an away trip to relegation threatened Augsburg. The away form for the bulls is... terrible to say the least and it will also be a chance to show they can follow up one good performance with another which just did not happen under Marsch. Same lineup from the weekend's victory only with reportedly unhappy Henrichs in for Mukiele on the right wing - chance for him to show he's worth more minutes? Hopefully he plays bad as I really want him sold in January. Vargas is the danger man for the home side.

RBL Matchday

I am, quite frankly, far too hungover to even watch this but football in Germany is still on this weekend (probably because they have a winter break after anyway). It’s a game against a very average Arminia side which should be a comfortable win but who knows. Henrichs starts again so I’m already hating life.

Been unsettled since the day he arrived. I can see them signing him permanently back in the Summer if he does okay. I would have thought naturally another striker in but suspect under the next formation Tedesco is fine with Silva/Poulsen being the options.

RBL Matchday

Winter break is over, Germans are back playing footie albeit without crowds for a lot of games. Not much happened over winter except for Forsberg being declared Swedish POTY and Marco Kurth (assistant coach under Marsch) finally being released after the new boss decided he wants a complete fresh slate. It's a repeat of the first game of the season to Mainz but at home this time (the Bundesliga season is split into two identical fixture lists). After a mixed start to Tedesco's reign (1W, 1D, 1L) which should have really been 3 wins it's important to get off to a good start but a very tough opponent coached by a manager I actually would have preferred (Bo Svensson). I'm going to say, due to squad constraints, a draw would be a good result though this afternoon. No real superstars in their team but well drilled and Burkardt is very talented - no St. Juste or Niakhate thankfully. Looks like it will be a 3-4-1-2 today with Poulsen and Silva up top.

Speaking of the squad...

Transfers In:
None so far but possibly a forward being targeted. Hartmann back from loan at Paderborn for the squad but suspect he's just filling up cover spots.
Transfers Out: Brobbey (Dry loan back to Ajax), Clark (Dry loan back to NY Red Bulls) Luan Candido (Sold to RB Bragantino) & Marcelo Saracchi (Released)
Unavailable: Haidara, Moriba (AFCON), Mukiele, Henrichs, Olmo, Bonnah (COVID), Forsberg, Laimer, Halste (Injury)

Game is LIVE from 2.30pm
