RBL Transfer News
- Yet more links with a centre-half coming in today with Hellas Verona's highly talented Marash Kumbulla to go with Wesley Fofana, Tanguy Kouassi, Walce & Loic Bessile. Nagelsmann has already reiterated he doesn't want to sign another defender as no one will sell someone of the right quality in the January window and another loan may not help. All the links are to very young, inexperienced defenders as well. My guess is that they'll carry on pursuing Benjamin Henrichs to allow Klostermann to carry on at centre-half.
- Stefan Ilsanker, on the transfer list in the Summer but ended up being very much needed due to injuries, as openly admitted he wants a move to play enough matches leading into the Euros. This departure would weaken central defence again which might force RBL's hand in the market.
- Interesting links with Diego Demme to Napoli which I can possibly see happening in the long term due to Tyler Adam's return but right now he's arguably the most important central midfielder for Nagelsann. Keep an eye on this one.
- Long time transfer target Isaac Lihadji (Marseille) has had his pro contract offer finally pulled by the club so he will leave somewhere this month.
To me it's looking like Benjamin Henrichs is the only real target for the club in January, price permitting, but that departres will have a big say in anything else that's done. Personally, due to the bad luck with injuries and rumours of departures for Ilsanker and Ampadu I'd be much more relaxed with some sort of central defender coming in. Right now there is no real possibility to play a proper back 3 which has reduced the tactical flexibility over the last few games.
