Referees v Everton

Should have had a blantent penalty vs Spurs at home.

Should have had a blantent penalty vs City at home.

Never a red for Allan last night.

The top two could have given us a further 4pts…

Referring standards in the league are shocking and we definitely seem to be on the end of some horror decisions. I’m sure there are lots of other decisions etc that I’ve forgot above.

I'd prefer to put it down to complete and utter incompetence as for it to be a conspiracy would need lots of people to be involved which would make it impossible to be kept quiet. I think we're seeing some of the worse decisions being made against us because we only see those decisions but i reckon lots of other teams have legitimate gripes. I do think though that there is a massive bias to how decisions are looked at across the board from the media to the officiating with for instance Gordon going down for a penalty last night after stepping across the Newcastle defender and him making contact with Gordon. This was described as Gordon knows what he's doing and so wasn't a penalty but i would guarantee if it had been Salah it would have been described as Salah was clever putting his body in a position to make the Newcastle defender foul him and that there was enough contact for a penalty. Not incompetence but a different view being applied.
This 100%

I got rather angry when Allan was sent off. There were 2 penalty decisions, although not necessarily penalties that were not even looked at. I know for a fact that they would have had an official review straight away for certain other clubs.

The commentator was not helping my anger by confirming that neither were penalties, again, we know that they would have been on a very different tune if it was the other way around (especially Shearer) or for certain other teams. Both incidents there was definite contact and that would have been the line spewed.

Like others have said on here, I am not a conspiracy theorists but it is beyond a joke now. This season there has been far too many dodgy decisions with VAR and not even using VAR to look at possible decisions, far too many to not start to think.....Why?

Rondon against Brentford springs to mind, not even looked at.

I'm convinced theres more at play than incompetence. The City hand ball still grates and is one of the most suspicious non-calls you're likely to see.

The only one I’ve seen that was anywhere near as bad was the other season when Alli punched a corner away when we played Spurs at home and they looked at it for 5 minutes only to not give anything.

Frank called it last night. Its a specialist job, and different to the on-field role. Having on-field refs rotating into the VAR box isn't working and is leading to inconsistency. Professional VAR specialists required. Also, a degree of accountability for their decisions.
Accountability? Whats that?

Chris Kavanagh was straight back into reffing a top flight match 3 days after the City debacle

I had the worry when we publically spoke out against the sky teams, during the whole super league fiasco. You don't upset the football mafia like that.

People keep telling me refs are awful and it's for everyone, but it's really not. Some of the decisions I've watched this season have been beyond poor reffing. Burnley taking chunks out of Richy, the numerous handballs, the numerous times VAR looked at something that had been given in other games the same weekend and blatantly ignored in our games.

It summed it up by the ref going to the monitor last night, yet not being asked to do so for City's handball. They're using VAR to dictate the outcome of games, or at least trying to.
