Referees v Everton

Our last 2 games we have crapped the bed against a poor Watford and nuked ourselves in the foot against Brentford.

I get it, we have had some pretty horrific decisions this season, maybe other teams can say the same? I dunno.

Most of the time the final day means nothing, I think people are reaching cos for once there is everything to play for.

In order for it to work it would require a huge number of people to be in on it, so maybe 1 day the whistle will get blown, but till then, im not a believer.
not quite, if we get the penalty as we should at 1-0, hopefully make it 2-0 but we would have kept 11 men on the field. The outcome of the non award of the pen meant that the nerves got to them and they shat their pants

Do you not find it very iffy that 3 high profile referee's are all hanging up there whistle this year

I don't actually think there is a conspiracy but I do actually think VAR confirms refereeing biases and incompetence I also think its easier for them to give decisions against a team like us than the top six because they won't get the same blow back in the media or from their global fanbases. I never hear any of their fans moaning about decisions. Whilst most of it is self inflicted, we have been robbed of over ten points this season which is a contributing factor in where we are, its a combination of bias and incompetence.

Im not a tin foil hat guy or conspiracy theorist.

But i think anyone who believes that this hasnt been pure corruption is away with the fairies.

Too much evidence now game after game to believe otherwise.
I think that is what quietened Goodison against Burnley

Even after we got the 2nd goal, we still had that feeling of 'we are fighting a losing battle here' with them not sending the Brentford defender off.

I'm far from a conspiracist but i can see something is happening! You don't have the amount of money in the Premier League & the people who leach off it from owners to agents to TV tycoons and not have it reeking of activity.

My best bet would be to protect the brand! Create story's, a bit like wrestling!
Another theory would be its a bit of a warning from certain clubs/owners on us speaking out about the Super League

Theres a lot of things it could be...

Super league related complaint

Last day drama

Referee bias

Something to do with Benitez / Lampard

Who knows...but theres 100% something going on. Especially when former referees are saying its unfair.

Get. This. In. The. PL.

Yes, yes, and another yes from me.

However, we won't see it in the near future for 2 possible reasons:

1: It is corrupt
2: The powers that be know that the current refereeing standards is so shocking that they would never push this through as the embarrassment from knowing how they come to decisions would make them a laughing stock and they would be forced to have to do some work in improving standards.

Var(England): That looked a possible pen there Michael
Oliver: I want Pickford relegated, going with no pen and red card for the youngfella
England: haha sounds good!

Yea that mightn't work for them at all

Not really. It doesn't have to be Bourne conspiracy levels of corruption. Just the continual allowance and protection of poor decision making allows for biased refereeing. Brantwaithe's red has nothing to do with the pen not being given, so he doesn't have to be 'in on it'
The pen not being given does allow for Brantwaithe's red and there will be no investigation of Oliver's decision making, or Darren England's decision to not ask him to go to the monitor. Corruption can be on a small scale with big consequences. A series of small examples of corruption can point to a larger conspiracy.
Maybe there's none too...but without transparency and released audio of the interaction between Oliver and England it would appear to me something is up. The PGMOL could clear up any doubt by releasing that.

Yup, exactly how it works in RL. You'll still have stuff you disagree with, but at least you understand the logic they're applying.

Same in Union, I watch a lot of it these days and the decision making process is always clear. What angles are available, making sure that every possibility has been taken into account.

The respect campaign that went on heavily a while ago, which does not seem to a big thing shouted about recently, was never going to come about in football as the players don't seem to know what the ref is thinking or doing either. Again without audio we will not know how they are conveying their decision making and actions to the players. In Union, the ref is constantly in the ears of the players, describing what he is seeing and then, when it needs to be, the decision is clear and precise.

Football is light years away from this level of respect and clarity and is getting worse season upon season.

This is it for me. It's a closed shop of people with a vested interest in making sure they are never held accountable. It's a hell of a lot easier to not get scrutinised by never giving anything contraversial against teams who's ex players and cheerleaders dominate the media coverage of the sport.

Think I'd like an appeal system, like in Tennis. Forces the ref to go to the monitor if he doesn't do so on his own accord. Each team gets a couple of appeals per game or something.
Your logic is flawless, however these corrupt helmets would soon get around that little inconvenience. These blatant cheats would out-cheat even themselves by making completely erroneous and obviously wrong decisions early in the game. Monitors checked, an 'how silly of me' reaction from the bent barsteward, and, hey presto, you've used up your nine lives, and then they continue as of now,
The only way would be to make them attend the after match press conference to explain their decisions. I would go so far that if they do a 'Dermatosis Carragher' type stupid comment, I would put them through a polygraph test. The full hit.

Then we would see a different league table.
