His last half season at Villa and career at Norwich makes pretty dismal reading , especially considering he was managing a relegated team in the championship for the second part .

Nothing to say he won’t keep Leicester up but the idea he’s a wonderful appointment seems at odds with the available data.

You’re right people would have been fuming

Imagine sacking Rodgers for him as well.

Like theres no doubt whatsoever who the better manager is.

As for the new manager bounce stuff, he got 5 points from his first 9 games at Norwich.

He was a failure at Villa and Norwich. Him and Shakespeare.

I'd have been wary if Benitez had taken that job, because you just know he'd get them tightened up and squeeze some results out.

We are just lucky Benitez is so pig headed that he will demand a long term contract.

Benitez would have got a boost out of Leicester of sorts. Dean Smith? I'm just not seeing what he brings to the table.

It just underlines that Everton got the best available manager for any relegation threatened outfit when we got Dyche.

These teams down the bottom are panicking massively now. I half expect Leeds to get rid of Gracia if they lose the next game.

It’s funny that just a few days ago there were people saying Leeds would be safe no problem. Then they lose a game and all of a sudden they’re right back in it. They’re not out of it by any means yet.

The upcoming weekend could be pivotal. If we can do our job against Fulham the table could start to look very bad for some teams at the bottom if they lose to top 6 opponents.

Dean Smith is obviously a pretty good coach, but there's no way he's an improvement on Rodgers. Appointment seems like good news for us, particularly with City being his first game.
City being their first game is a big plus I reckon... can't see the new manager 'bounce' working with that one

If we can get back-to-back wins over Fulham and Palace it'd be way too much for those three in the relegation zone right now.

I really do think those three end up there. S'ton and Forest for sure, but I'm increasingly looking at Leicester and thinking they could just collapse in the next couple of weeks.

Imagine if we’d appointed Dean Smith.

Don't think it's that much difference to appointing Lampard in Feb 2022, he just had a few more games.

Think Leicester are banking on him putting an arm round Maddison's shoulder and getting him going like he did with Grealish when he turned up at Villa.

Don't think it's an appointment that makes it certain they stay up. He did take 5 points in his first 3 games at Norwich so Leicester have that bounce and they'll have a chance.

They have city away next week .. they will get nothing there

In a weird way Rafael has helped us not going to Leicester, he has sealed there fate to our benefit
