As bad as we are we might luckily be saved again by other teams being even worse.

Southampton and Forrest are down for me.

Leaving Everton, Leeds, Leicester and maybe Bournemouth to fight to stay up.

Leicester have one draw and no wins in their last 10 games, but have 3 teams in the battle ina. Row ( 2 at home ) have to fancy them to stay up witt that squad

Leeds have been demolished in their last 2 games, but again have 3 games in a row hheu can pick points up from.

Everton, we've got some fixtures we CAN get points from but they are mostly away, we are useless away.

There will be twists to come

The other thing to remember is that it is...Leicester City. Perhaps the younger posters are impressed by that admirable club, given their impressive last two decades, but to people of my age - 50 - they are a yo-yo club and have simply reverted to their true selves this season.

Leicester were always fodder. They were to be grouped with Norwich, Stoke, Brighton, Crystal Palace, and Sunderland among the basement dwellers of my youth.

Don't underestimate the race memory of Evertonians if we can get a sniff of safety with five games to play. It's in our DNA to demand far more than mere survival and deeply resent that being in question. At Leicester, their own race memory is very different. They will start to accept the natural order of things if they start to see others move away from them as the matches run out.

As for Leeds? Too many years of oblivion makes them even more likely to accept their fate. It might only take a defeat to Leicester to finish them off in their own heads - and resuscitate their rivals.

We need to get something at Palace - anything - to keep the fires burning. Then the win at Leicester to extricate ourselves.
I agree with that. We have that long term memory muscle of being a top flight club and a top club. That's part of what kept up last season. Yes, Leicester seem to be an important club but they, and obviously more so Leeds, are aware that going down is part of the club's recent history - Leicester have been in the PL for less than 9 seasons this time around.

As long as we get bodies back into our starting line up and the fans stick with Everton through some difficult twists and turns we can get through this.

I really think for Leicester and Leeds their next fixture could precipitate a collapse if they come up empty handed...for one or both of them. Whereas if Everton get beat by Palace it'll be a blow but we'll be a game nearer getting back to full compliment and getting back to winning the odd game or two plus a few draws.

What we probably need is for one of Leeds and Leicester to win at the weekend, and the other to lose. We then need the one who wins their game to slap the other one all over the place when they play each other the following week. I’d rather it be Leicester who continue to lose given they’re already below us.

Agree with all but bournemouth. I think they have already flown and fair play to them. They bought in january to try and save themselves and they go into games and play with bravery and try to win them. They've deserved that cushion points gap.
The rest below them really are the dross. We're trying to be less dross than the others.

What we need is both to 100% lose, and then both to maybe draw against each other, or if we beat Palace and they both lost the weekend, probably a Leeds win to keep the Foxes down

Been trying to think of the positives the last few days.

1. Despite a dismal result we are still out of the relegation zone.

2. We will hopefully have Dyche's favourites back for the last 6 and a settled team which is harder to beat.

3. We gained on Leeds' GD.

4. Leeds have to play Leicester.

5. Whilst IMO unlikely, we have the chance to beat Leicester and safety is in our own hands.

6. We wriggled out of a similar position last season and finished above Leeds.

I know there's an argument against each if these points. We don't have Richarldison etc etc. And I still think we are favouties to go down. But we aren't dead and buried just yet.

Yer was unsure on Bournemouth, they've got some massive wins over the last few weeks, Liverpool and then spurs and Leicester away, I just don't think they have a great team though so got it in them to lose a couple in a row.

I'd be looking more towards what Leeds and leicester are doing like.

Leicester away is going to be disgusting though init

I'd prefer if they both lost
Just hoping wolves and Fulham don't pack their flip flops yet

Nar spot on that.

After all is said and done, as you say this is still in our hands, we wi
