We needed FFP to save us from ourselves apparently to stop us facing financial ruin. Now that we’ve sold all our playing assets, can’t buy anyone, and might end up in the championship I’m more convinced than ever that it’s saved the club. God forbid Moshiri had been allowed to give Ancelotti more money to buy the players he wanted, imagine what sort of mess we’d be in now, thankfully that didn’t happen.

Its for our own good whilst Chelsea can spend another £300+ millions in the summer and pay Lukaku's 250k a week wages whilst he's on loan :hayee:

So much wrong with this line, FFP hasn’t ruined us, Moshiri has by allowing spending like a drunken sailor instead of putting the blockers on certain deals such as £30m on Michael Keane, £27m on Yannick Bolasie, £45m on a player we can’t speak about, £24m on Schneiderlin, £23m on Klaasen, £20m on Walcott, £27m on Tosun, £15m on Maupay, £35m on Iwobi etc
Didn't we basically get the Klaasen money back tho. Other than wages and wasted transfer option we didn't really lose the cost of him.

rather than dock points, I think the FA should relegate us 3 divisions, so we could then have a pretty good chance of finally winning something e.g. League 2.

From an accounts point of view, pretty much iirc. Was still a dire signing mind.
At the time when we signed him, he was captain of Ajax and had just been to a Europa league cup final. Didn’t seem that dire when it happened.

We’ve made some shocking signings like most clubs, but we have also had a lot of bad luck too IMO.

If either Leeds or Leicester lose their games tomorrow I can see the losers also losing their head to head next Tuesday.

If it's Leicester I think they'll cave in and go quietly having seen a 'new manager bounce' crushed. Leeds are different IMO. They've taken some horrendous knocks but seem able to get a result from somewhere sporadically that's kept them in it. That said, if Leeds lose their next two then their run in isn't great.

Hopefully neither win tomorrow. I think tomorrow might be defining.
Leicester will beat Wolves tomorrow.... Wolves away form marginally (2 points) better than ours. I think Fulham will do Leeds whilst we only get a point maximum at Palace.

Luckily Forest lose at Liverpool and Southampton lose at Arsenal....

How will that leave things? Pretty bad I`d say, had we beaten Fulham I`d be more positive BUT we will be lucky to hit 30 points by May, I don`t see a way back. How bad is it that we WILL NOT hit 10 wins in a season, 6 currently and no way on earth we get another 4!

Klaasen's a decent player, bit like Van De Beek, technically gifted but maybe didn't have the physical tools for the PL and like DVDB it's just not worked out. Wouldn't have him down as one of our worst tbh, sometimes they just don't fit.

We’ve done by far the worst business in the league and possibly country, it’s not luck, it’s incompetence.

I posted at the time that he was a decent signing, in terms of Dutch International, capt of Ajax. Signings, good or bad, are nearly always Captain Hindsight arnt they?

Already rumours Maupay and his agent want out.

And Onana will be gone for £40-50mill IMO

Alli and Gbamin won’t be going anywhere. If Lille don’t follow up their interest in Gomes then he’ll be staying too. Those 3 players alone are on nearly £300k a week and they contribute absolute zero. Our wage bill is unsustainable for the Championship. If we manage to sell 10 high earning players we will have done extremely well and that’s the dream scenario, not the nightmare one.

This won't happen, predictions like this never go the way you think they will but kudos for being so positive it's really uplifting!

I think there have been a bunch of signings that have been immediately very questionable and wouldn't say Klaasen is one of them. But even without the benefit of hindsight the likes of Schniederlin, Tosun, Sigurdsson or Bolasie, probably Maupay too all looked like bad signings on the basis of what we were paying for them in their late 20s, with no potential for sell on profit. The biggest mistake we've made under Moshiri is paying no attention to age and sell on value.

Signings like Klaasen or Moise Kean are in a different category even if they don't work out, because age-wise there was at least the potential for upside if they had.
