Hiring him was a mistake. Not sacking him during the WC break was a far greater mistake though. The board seemed determined to let him cling on through a series of winnable games in the hopes he’d win one to avoid paying him any compo and to have an excuse for writing off the transfer window.
It was entirely the boards fault. They made such a total farce of the manager search that they were backed into a corner in terms of Lampard. Then they decided that they had had enough of hiring and firing and had to keep him on despite a horrendous run of results. I like Frank, think he got the club and all that, but he needed to go sooner. He was never going to be able to work with our squad the way he plays. I mean he can’t work with Chelsea’s squad either but that’s another story lol

100%

Lamps clearly can't steer a crisis club in a bit of a mess (even put Chelsea in that bracket). He's clearly only got his jobs based on his name and when that sparkle shines off on the players who probably idolised him...he's not nothing left to offer.

If Nottingham Forest can beat Brighton then we certainly can next week, especially with the likes of DCL and Doucoure and Onana back in the side.

Nottingham Forest also have a particularly hard run-in. I can't see them getting anything on their two away trips to West London (Brentford and Chelsea), or indeed against Arsenal.

I'm currently in Nottingham on business and I'm staying about two miles from the City Ground as the crow flies. One thing I did notice last night about Nottingham Forest's victory was that their fans were defeaningly loud in their support of their players. From the first whistle to the last. Impressive club.

We Evertonians must go one better against the Geordies.

Counter attacking football and luck with players who can finish. They also got 2 penalties.

We don't get or create that kind of luck. We've also gone from being a compact defensive unit to a high line pressing side.

Imagine if Bill rocks up tonight
Scenes!

I mean I know the guy isn’t well and I’m sorry about that but it’s basic leadership for the board to be present at these games when the teams PL status is under such threat. They need to face up to what they have done.

Hi Wolves fan from up north in peace, I've been to Goodison many times and visit the area on business on a regular basis.

We were in big trouble with Bruno Lage the clown in charge but what we've done is replace him with a fantastic coach and staff.

27 points from 18 games compared to 10 from 15 before he joined.

You in my opinion should of replaced Lampard as we did pre- the world Cup.

For what it's worth I think you will stay up and it will be Saints, Forest & Leeds who go.

Everton like Wolves is a famous old club, good luck.

If we don't pull our crap together that could very well be us with a -7 goal difference against Newcastle and City. We are very much capable of absolute capitulation.

Thursday is simply must win and the players have to look at last nights result and see they've been given a massive chance to fire a psychological shot at Leeds and Leicester
If we had those teams away then I would be in full agreement with you. But not at home. Plus after City won the league last night they might rest a few players (De Bryune, Haaland) when playing us as they face Madrid a few data later).

We should have got a draw against City but for the ridiculous non handball vs Rodri last season.

Top trolling from Everton. Like a mug I’ve just renewed my season ticket and in the checkout process they ask if you want to join the ‘AutoCup scheme’ for European matches (if we qualify!) are they aware the inter-toto cup was scrapped years ago?!

Exactly this. Said before that I didn't want Lampard other than the one scenario we found ourselves in. I.e having to replace Fsw who was failing.

Absolute madness we ever considered him after Ancelotti. Our stock was still relatively high back then.

Im gona have a bit of a victor meldrew moment. I think the fixture schedule played a part last night. All the other FA Cup semi finalists got an extra day to prepare for their next game than Brighton did and i think brighton looked dead on their feet. I think that was a huge advantage for forest.

Little things and all that.
And Leicester getting best part of six days break compared to our three before we meet.
