Can’t decide whether a draw or win for Southampton is preferable.

Realistically we have to back ourselves to get more points than Southampton over the next four games or we may as well pack it in, so perhaps a Southampton win.
100% has to be a Southampton win we root for. There’s no point worrying about Southampton really, they are all but gone regardless and if they do catch us it’ll likely only be the difference between 19th and 20th. Whereas if Forest lose that they look pretty doomed.

So what is everyone's reason for wanting to stay in the PL?

Financial worry if relegated
Elite league status
Other?

I think a Southampton win is best. That would kill Forest then we just need Leeds to not get a win and we might just sneak out of it.

Big Sam being appointed is the worst possible news for us, he will get a tune outta them.... Manager turnaround and should stop the silly goals.

True. Need to keep that going then and win , Wolves away for example.

Imagine how agitated people will be if it comes down to the last game against Bournemouth. I simply don’t want it to come to that.
I think most people would take us still being with a chance at that stage to be honest, and pretty much everyone would take us having it in our own hands. That's what I mean about last night really, it's too late to start worrying about pulling away from it now, the time for that has well gone. Now it's just a case of scraping together as many points as we can and praying it's enough. It would be miraculous if we went into the Bournemouth game already safe, and it still would have been if we'd won last night.

I think we will stay up if we can create chances like we did yesterday and finish our chances. How Dom missed that yesterday is beyond me. Brighton is a very good side and I would be happy with a point. Hopefully we can catch City in a weird spot between their champions league leg and get a point from them at home. Wolves and Bournemouth. Points are to be had. Will that be enough? Who knows. But it’s up to this lot if we are going to stay up or not. Can’t be relying on the other teams around us.

That’s the big worry, isn’t it? That this shower won’t cope with the pressure as it increases. Dyche coming in seemed to give them the boost you would have hoped for but then they returned to form in the Newcastle/Fulham games and his tactics are still too timid.

I won’t accept relegation until it happens, and there is only one “must win” game, which is the last one where we still have the chance to affect staying up (which could well be Bournemouth), but you’re right that each game we don’t win makes it harder mentally.

I feel yesterday was pivotal to win to be honest.

Winning there, would have meant 4 from the last 4 could have done it. The confidence it would have created would have given us every chance of nicking a point sesh to Brighton or City.

Now we’re hoping to realistically win our last two to stand a chance of survival for me and they’d s lot of pressure.

He’s got four very tough games and a defence that has leaked consistently under multiple managers, I’m struggling to see what he (or anyone) can turn around in that time.

Agree. If Southampton catches Everton then there's no relegation question left to answer for Everton. They're 5 points back and have a significantly worse Goal Differential right now. The odds they'd overtake Everton but then Leeds, Leicester and Forest would fall behind both of them is miniscule. Even then, we'd still need Southampton to defeat Forest :D

Forest away and Fulham at home I thought were good opportunities for three points and last night too. We shall see what happens I guess, you just know in typical wtf Everton fashion we beat City 😂
