Wanting to send the fans home happy vs staying in the league isn’t even comparable though, in terms of incentive.

You’re not going to risk a 50/50 tackle just to make the fat lad in seat 15A clap you.

I get your point and appreciate there may be less incentive to throw your head in where it hurts but a 50/50 tackle is nothing and I think you're really underestimating the mentality and professionalism needed to play at the top level.
