Everton face being sued for £300million by their Premier League rivals if they avoid relegation.
Mail Sport has learned that Southampton, Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Burnley have informed the Premier League that they believe they are entitled to compensation from Everton if the club are found guilty of breaching spending rules.
The clubs are also understood to have applied for Everton’s disciplinary hearing to be fast-tracked so any sanctions, including a possible points deduction, could be actioned this season. The rejection of this request, by the commission that would hear the case, has led the clubs to lodge legal papers with the top flight which make them a party to the dispute

Without tempting fate, I see news articles like this appearing at this time of year as evidence that we are staying up. Again.

I’ve said this before, but I looked at David Moyes in the press conference pre semi final of the Conference and he was beaming about the game and started to reminisce about his European managerial pedigree including us getting knocked out of Europe in the QF - his appearance in that showed me where his priorities are…they then make 7 changes and get beat by Brentford. I appreciate the hammer coming on before to tell us he won’t change his side, but if they are in the final, regardless of the final home game, I doubt he fields his strongest 11. Out of all of the games of our rivals…Leeds away to West Ham is the one I am most worried about
Looking at the table it is a little surprising that the Forest, Leeds and ourselves have got a result, win or draw, in about 50% of the games played so far. Given how crap they are it seems a decent strike rate to get something out of every other game to be honest. So it would seems someone at the bottom will get point/s, let’s hope it is us and more than our rivals

Matt Hughes is a tedious bell who definitely steals and sniffs his neighbours underwear.

In fairness there is actually a basis for precedent.

IF Everton are found in breach then yes they would be entitled to push a claim. I know that the EFL rules permitted both Middlesbrough and Wycombe to pursue a claim vs Derby as they were clubs who directly missed out.

The team who finishes 3rd from bottom if Everton finish 17th would be the best placed.
