To be fair, we are a nothing club. We've literally been hanging around the Premier League doing nothing since its inception, other than one FA Cup win 28 years ago.

Sure, we have a rich history but that was a long time ago and we've had over 3 decades of decline since we really mixed it.

It's semantics isn't it?

Nothing competitively, no doubt.

But everything to fans.

For a start, no club is a nothing club, it’s a BS term, where I live I’m surrounded by Luton and Watford fans who have 1 major trophy between them - but their support is superb and the clubs have been going 100+ years, how is that nothing?

Secondly, when people say “nothing club” they often mean trophies. If the likes of Everton, Spurs and Villa are nothing clubs then there are only 5 “actual” clubs in the entire country.

It’s utter nonsense
Everton are the 4th most successful club in the country.

'Nothing' my arse.

Weird that, I don't mind Wolves - or should I say I'm indifferent to them. Don't think we've had any resemblance of rivalry with them? I thought they'd be wanting Leicester buried sooner than us. I guess it is more down to the size and history of Everton for novelty factor to see us go down, plus the weird obsession other fans have of hating scousers.

Same, historically a big club, been successful in terms of European progresion, well supported.

But yeah, maybe it’s the lure of a big side going, or just everyone fed up of us breaching FFP.

I've never ever been psotitive about this situation and I've never stated we WILL get out of it. But what I constantly and consistently HAVE done is to point out how terrible the teams are around us AND Everton's tendency to be able to get a big win from somewhere historically.

I think what's happened here is that the overwhelming negativity and gloom that you see on this forum just makes any rational or reasonable post about our possible chances look overly positive.

Do you think I'm being overly positive, for example, when I say that Leicester, Leeds and Forest are terrible football teams and can barely win one game every two months on average? Do you think I'm being too poisitive in saying that it's highly unlikely any of these teams (us included) will claim 4 points out of the last 6 when that's a rate of points gathering way way beyond any of those teams so far?

Dont confuse balance and realism for a Pollyanna view of our situation.
Yeah, you are definitely right about the 'overwhelming negativity and gloom' on here!! God, it could drain the life out the happiest of people. ( tho we have as a club, brought this on ourselves.. )

Like I said tho m8, I do like your positivity, whether it's more based on the teams around us just being that little bit worse then us or not.

And now you have made my day!! by agreeing you have also been clenching your butt cheeks aswell.
Hopefully they can be relieved a bit this Wkend... 🙏

A lot of neutral fans have no idea we're from the city of Liverpool.
I remember when I was at uni getting asked in earnest by a lad from Carlisle "Why don't you support Liverpool when you're from Liverpool?" - he didn't like football at all mind, but it still irked me more than anything else I've ever been asked in my life. Fortunately a mutual friend & Leeds fan bullied him for it in a far less emotional way than I would have if it'd been left to me to respond.

My experience from existing abroad as well tbh - especially people who aren't super into English football or casual football fans.

You get used to it after the 5000000th time, it turns out.

Couldn’t give one what kids on social media think about us today

We built the game in this country and no one will ever take that away from us

Southall Wilson Ball Dean - the greatest British players of all time in their positions all played for Everton. Doesn’t matter how long ago it was, it can never be erased.

As Mourinho would say ‘football heritage’

Unfortunately you’re right, as someone who has moved away I’ve been asked a few times why don’t you support Liverpool and don’t realise there are two teams in the city.

Granted they don’t know a lot about football or follow it some of them but I’d imagine they’d know of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea etc

My mother in law even made me a red and white pillow for a housewarming present, went straight on the fire pit when the daft bat left.
