Couldn’t give one what kids on social media think about us today

We built the game in this country and no one will ever take that away from us

Southall Wilson Ball Dean - the greatest British players of all time in their positions all played for Everton. Doesn’t matter how long ago it was, it can never be erased.

As Mourinho would say ‘football heritage’
It's not the kids on social media at all, it's pretty much all casual. Love it or hate it, only actual fans (as in, football fanatics) know where we're from and who we are and what we've achieved.

I think I read somewhere that we're the club with the longest record of fans having nothing to celebrate in the entire league pyramid.
That includes leagues, cups, and promotions.

I remember listening to the guardians 'football weekly' years ago, when moyes was still in charge and Barry Glendening (yeah, I know) saying what were Everton for. We consistently finished 7th or 8th at the time.

I remember Everton fans applauding Kenwright against Villa around the same time and being almost heart broken. I'd been reading posts by people on kipper (particularly Billy Bullens if memory serves) raging against the board, trying to sound the alarm bells of stagnation and neglect but it turns out the vast majority of Everton fans didn't seem to care.
No matter what happens, in two weeks there'll be some protests in the Gwladys but most of the stadium will shuffle home and grumble, maybe wonder if Sean Dyche will sign Ashley Barnes and Shay Adams in the Summer

And the needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before.

Who cares though?

Our achievements in this game are historical fact.

It’s like saying to a basketball fan that a load of people round the world don’t know who the Boston Celtics are because they won the majority of their titles in the 70s and 80s. Do you think any of their fans would give one?

What has happened in football in this country in particular with the PL is that a generation of fans are being fed propaganda on a daily basis that football didn’t exist before 1992 (unless we’re counting Liverpool’s and United’s titles), there were no good players from that period (unless they played for Liverpool or United) and if you don’t support a top 6 team then your team is nothing and you’re a laughing stock. Sadly all too many fans lap all this up and now actually hate their own team.

What are Everton for?
Beer and laughs.
Little else.
But maybe in the end , once we accept the reality of our futile existence, beer and laughs ain’t such a bad thing?

Well, if the 'Big Six' represents finishing positions in the PL then we've been Big Six six times in that league....probably more than any other team outside of the Big Six.

I wouldn't call us a nothing club in any way. It's simply not appropriate for a team with Everton's history, its fan base and - soon - its stadium.

If there's any club that correctly fits the bill 'sleeping giant' it's this one.

This got me thinking, so just checked.
Outside the 'Big Six' it's the following in Prem era

Villa - 9 Top Six finishes
Newcastle 8
Everton, Leeds 7
Blackburn 6
Leicester 3
West Ham 2
Southampton, Bolton, Ipswich, Forest, Wimbledon, Norwich, QPR 1

We do, as we're constantly talking about it lol

What a horrible example this is - a constant playoff team for the last 20-odd years, getting their conference and occasionally being in the finals. Yeah, horrible to be them. We're at best the Jazz as a comparison.

Also not really propaganda - get with the damn times. No one outside of us or people who played with some of them know who half the players we boast about are.

Sad reality of it - you don't do much, you're not as well known, nobody talks about you.

Umm Florida cup?

not at the moment, no. Because we're f#$in brilliant! lol

Majority of your titles came in the 60s when there were only 8 teams in the league. I think you won 9 out of your 17 in the 60s. Bulls won 6 in the 90s when the league was tough AF :celebrate:

The Everton cup when we won against the other Everton.
