It is DCLs influence and inspiration to the rest of the team which makes him essential in this lousy squad. No one pretends he scores many himself. If we have to play the nightmare Maupay, close your curtains and go to bed.

id take the draw
I'm in two minds: yes, a point is useful. But it doesn't put us beyond either Leicester or Leeds.

Wolves dont score that many. I'm just wondering if we duke this out with them with our good away form we could snatch the win.

I'd put equal hope on these two games. I dont see B'mouth being any easier than Wolves. In fact, the results at GP have been poor of late.

We have to throw everything at this game and see what we get. A win would be major and probably settle us down enough for a final day win.

You seriously think league cups and FA Cups are equal to league titles?

8th indeed!
No they are obviously not equal but are we now discounting European Trophies as well? The point was around what is measured as success….yes we are 4th if all we are going to do is count league titles and nothing else and it suits a biased agenda to do that. If you count any of the recognised domestic or European trophies then we are not 4th. Someone should have told the 27 campaign because it apparently should have been called the 35 campaign because the last FA Cup clearly does not count

I'd swap our trophy list for Chelsea's in a heartbeat. They are WAY more successful than us despite less league titles.
I know - people genuinely convincing themselves that we are 4th most successful just in one type of trophy because it suits us. We have won three more league titles, five league cups less, three FA Cups less and five European trophies less. Overall we have won 15 major trophies, they have won 25 major trophies (not counting the World Club Championship) but, no we are more successful because of league title wins 😂😂

There are only two actual "Major Trophies" which are the League Title and European Cup. All others are 2nd rate ones and there is no way that a League Cup can be classed as the equal of a League Title.

Even the CL now is devalued by having non title winners involved. Liverpool and Chelsea have both won it in the last 20 years despite having disappointing league seasons, although despite that I'd still class the current CL in the same prestigious category as a Title.
I’m not classing the league cup or FA cup as the same, clearly the league is more important - it’s just about what you class as successful and it seems to me that we absolutely rely in history so we start to apply a level of bias when it comes to how successful we are. We’d give anything right now to win a league cup or an FA Cup. My view is where you are placed in the scheme of successful clubs depends on the number of trophies won.

I want the win and think we should go for it, and a point would be ok if Leeds dont win (& Leicester obviously who shouldnt really), but obviously that means waiting 24 hours (and more) and hoping

The ironic thing is that all the times we won the league, the FA cup was every bit as big, if not bigger and there has only been a huge gap between them since the premier league began. This didn't exist years ago, that's why FA Cup attendances were almost always much better for like-for-like fixtures. This only changed in the 1990s when the premier league started dwarfing the cup.
