Leeds last night: the caretaker talked of how proud he was of the players. But rather than a morale boosting turning of the corner, that underlined the pattern of their season - throwing away points from winning positions.

They've held 10 leads and ended up with 4 wins, 3 draws, 3 defeats...lost 15 points right there.

Man United will do them on Sunday.

And then we'll put them right in it when we face them at Goodison the following game.

I expect at the end of the next two games for each club we'll be on 21-22 points and Leeds will be on 19 points.
I agree with you, Dave. It will then be our job to finish them off at Goodison.

I think we can do that.

Even if we lose the derby, it'd be a more important picking up of points depriving Leeds and adding points to ours in that game. 6 points from Dyche's opening 9 would be very acceptable for us.

If we win 6 more after that we're safe IMO.

39 points should not be beyond this team.

I actually think this season the team that ends up 18th will go down with 40 plus points, it is going to be a long battle this

And that would be 0 wins in 10 for Leeds if it played out. The sort of run I'm not sure a side recivers from.

Also worth noting, the change wasnt that big post March either. You look at the response we woild typically get under Duncan for a game, it would normally indicate a bit of a turnaround. I'm not sure they got that.

Once again, this gets said every single season and it never ever turns out to be the case.

I mean it might happen, but it would be a major anomaly. You are banking on most if the teams either maintaining, or improving performances. That seems unlikely when you are looking at 5 or 6 teams.

Like when we had 0 wins in 10 then recovered and beat Arsenal. Leeds could get someone in that gets a tune out of their players. Doesn't matter how many they have lost before.

Mind you, some of the crazies on here, have us relegated, with the first five minutes, of the first game of every season.

This thread is a great case study in how to manipulate the worst case scenario out of every possible event and give yourself psychological punishment. Last season’s thread was the same, I’m sure at some point I remember reading someone say us winning a game was bad because it fired up the teams around us to also win that weekend. Then when we were confirmed safe, literally the day after someone created a thread and started flapping about us getting a retrospective points deduction and going down. I think people just need some form of misery in their lives to feel normal.

There was also the " Great Burnley Pay Off " conspiracy too lol

Imagine if we got relegated as a result of another team breaking financial rules, and then at the end of the season they turn round and go “listen we’ll take Gbamin off you if you just shut up lad”. Sure we’d all sit there and go “yeah sound bro go for it”.

Avoiding defeat is the key. Teams at the bottom will be going on runs of losing multiple games. We need to back up the few wins we will hopefully get with draws in games we’re not playing well and just keep the momentum going. We’re going to be in a scrap right to the end and we’re not good enough to be reeling off strings of wins in a row. We need to avoid defeats. If we’d just seen out the games against Wolves Southampton and West Ham as draws we’d be in a less precarious position. Hopefully Dyche brings that solidity in those games that have 0-0 written all over them that they’re finishing 0-0 and we’re picking up points.
