Well spotted. We are in it, or on the edge of it at the moment. We’re not playing well, have no settled line up and Vieira is tinkering all the time. I can see us looking in worse trouble than we are at the moment in a months time. Fortunately our run in looks not too bad. Last 8 games;

Southampton (a)
Everton (h)
Wolves (a)
West Ham (h)
Spurs (a)
Bournemouth (h)
Fulham (a)
Forest (h)

Will be looking for a good return from those games or we will be relying on others being worse.
The problem with that run of matches is that most of them, right now, are likely to be six-pointers and dog-eat-dog. You'd be far better off against the Fulham's and even Spurs of that list than us, Forest, or Bournemouth - unless one of them are already gone.

We left it too late to sack Lampard.
We did. But you don’t know if that will be a blessing in disguise. If we sack Frank before the World Cup then more than likely Bielsa is now the manager. Who knows if that would have worked. Similarly we might have had more options if he went after Wolves

We may luck into the right appointment. And no I didn’t want Dyche as manager but a few more performances like last week and I’ll be admitting I was wrong ?

In a season of catastrophic failure by the board, giving Lampard 3 games + 3 weeks after Brighton could well decide our fate.

You could argue he deserved chance to stay + work with squad during WC + would be tough to sack him after Wolves, first game back.

But Brighton was turning point, no coming back from that performance + they kicked can down the street.

We do this most seasons. Our good run of fixtures usually comes in Feb / March, this season it’s at the end. Vieira needs to decide what his best team is and stick with it

It seems like Forest are the team we should most be hoping get dragged back in. Their GD is abysmal, so we would most likely only have to equal their point total to stay up. Also, aside from a home game with Saints in early May, they have a brutal run-in.

They have a lot of younger players but I just don't see Ward Prowse as the kind of leader as the guy to pull them all together despite being a decent player.

Oriel Romeu been a massive loss for them. Experienced and unfussy player who just stuck his foot in and gave the ball to likes of Ward Prowse.

Bit like when Gana left in 2019 and replacing him became a big issue due to Gbamin never being fit and others being more attack minded.

Think Southampton are done now, just won't win enough home games. Hopefully they just don't donate three points to all of Forest, Leeds, West Ham and Bournemouth in the run in though.
