Liverpool did play well, we were missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is vital to our system, we tried the kid up front and it failed, we looked nervous, for whatever reasons we played badly and we lost. Any game is important but considering the Arsenal bonus win and that Leeds only picked up 1 against United, I would say we are in a better position than we were before, so lets stay positive. This next game is much bigger, if we dont get a win over these relegation competitors here we are making life very difficult for ourselves since we are the ones in the bottom 3 for the moment and the pressure is on us. safe to say I am bricking it
Yes, it's a great opportunity to cement Leeds in the bottom three and get ahead of West Ham.

I am sure these 2 things are connected. These guys all train with Simms day in day out and they know he is no messiah. Likely the only one in the XI that was excited to see his name on the teamsheet was him.
Thats not a complaint about him , he just does not have the requisite ball holding skills needed to do this job - probably why Lampard rarely used him too. Bringing him back from loan was bit of a knee jerk reaction.
He needs help. He cant be left to play a lone target man. Neither can Maupay...and if we played Gray up there, neither can he.

He was definitely put under a lot of pressure in a huge game for his first start, he clearly isnt fully developed and lacking the experience, and he had a shocker yeah. And maybe that did affect the rest but I am not going to blame Simms for the whole thing, the rest of the team could barely string 2 passes together either its unfair to isolate him like that. In hindsight he should have just gone with maupay, or a 442 with simms and someone else there so he has a bit of help since he wasnt capable of holding up the ball on his own. With DCL out he needs to figure out a plan B soon because he didnt seem to have one yesterday.

Dave, what are your thoughts on West Ham? I don’t rate them particularly well. Think they are a similar side to us. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us finishing above them.
Europe isn't helping them, like.

They can only beat Lampard's Everton. It'll be interesting to see how they react if we go past them again. The Hammers fans will be on the warpath for Moyes' head again IMO.

We can land 4 clubs in a lot of trouble if we beat Leeds.

If it's between us, Leeds or West Ham, I'd be more confident of chasing down Leeds than WHU to be honest.

By some chance they do go down, the likes of Rice, Bowen and Paqueta could all easily go on to play for Champions League level clubs. I don't think the same argument can be made for us or Leeds' lot.

Well, playing 2 up against less accomplished teams than Liverpool is a big option and a probability (or 4411). An isolated striker is a problem that can be solved as long as the centre midfield duo is blended well.

In the remaining games we can probably call on Patterson (who I'd play up the pitch if McNeil is injured) and Garner.

We'll have options soon.

For Leeds I'd go:

Coleman Coady Tarkowski Godfrey
McNeil---Gueye Onana-----Gray
--------------Iwobi
-------------Simms
This is the line up for me, with Gray and Iwobi being interchangeable in game. Definitely would have Godfrey as a full back, although it’s a toss up whether Myko or Coleman come out as both will be tested against the pace of the Leeds wingers.

Don’t forget Forest who are way more likely than West Ham to drop. West Ham too good on paper but they’ve had more than half a season to prove it and haven’t, and they’ve got some injuries mounting up. Still rate them as big outsiders for the drop.

Before the weekend Forest were top of the form table so look like they've turned a corner to be fair.

Was impressed with how they offered Cooper a contract amidst rumours he'd get sacked as well. Definitely capable of a poor run that drags them back into the mix though I guess.
