I think we'll cling on longer than we would have under Lampard or Bielsa, but it won't be enough.

Even the worst teams have enough firepower to make playing for clean sheets a high-risk strategy, especially when the defenders are average/poor and the manager is a no mark.

The rest of the league moved on from this type of football years ago.

In two games under Dyche we’ve beat the league leaders then played an away derby where we were inches away from also taking the lead in last night, effectively a two goal swing which could’ve changed the outcome dramatically.

Over two very difficult games we’ve gained points on Southampton, Bournemouth, Leeds, Palace and West Ham and kept pace with Forest.

Losing the derby isn’t fun but I hope the team don’t lose the head over it as much as half this forum has.

Yeah if you’d offered 3 points from the 2 games most people on here would have taken it. If we’d drawn both game the mood would probably be better despite having a point less. Our survival bid is unlikely to be built on winning away at top 6 teams. Two home games on the spin now, points needed.

Also where has the is snobbery for open play goals come from? Do goals from set pieces not count or something? We really can’t afford to be picky. City and Liverpool are routinely at the top of set pieces scored metrics. If it’s good enough for the best teams in the league it’s good enough for us. We can of course improve the finishing from open play but if you win a game and get three points no one cares how you did it in a relegation battle.
