That Leeds result should be setting alarm bells ringing around the club.

Chelsea dominated us for the most part and Leeds have just battered them.

I know we were without a striker, but there's no way we could repeat what Leeds did there.

We need a quality striker plus another one and we need Gueye or similar - minimum...and that's just to give us a fighting chance of staying out of the bottom three.

There are no Burnley's or Norwich's or Watford's this season...no fodder to go down with ease.
Been saying last bit all summer. 3 promoted teams all better + no sign Brentford, Leeds are going to implode.

Signings look decent but need time to bed in. We've just let positivity from last year disappear + given everyone headstart.

Waiting for Chelsea to decide if they're keeping Broja is stupid.

Agree. But I am sure we have been told at some stage that this is not an issue for now. We have satisfied FFP and now that Richy is gone I am sure we were told the other week that we don’t need to sell to buy for now. I may be wrong but I am sure this was mentioned. At any rate I would rather the club just came out and told us this, we’re screwed financially and we will need to go with what we have. Also, this is just another highlighting of the terrible way in which this club is run when our rivals can strengthen and we can’t. Like i have said before. We are in enormous trouble. Brace yourselves.

From what I gather from social media and O'keefe of the Athletic (BlueToff) is that the Richy sale satisfied FFP and gave us a bit of cash left over to do a few deals (Onana, Mcneil).

Anything further this summer will be through an unexpected sale of a squaddie like Keane (wont happen now Godfrey/Mina are both crocked) or a big star like Gordon/Pickford/DCL.

Next summer we'll have a few more off the wage bill like Allan, Mina, Townie, King Salaman and have the Moise Kean money coming in if Juve sign him permanently so should have more wiggle room but a £50 million sale on Gordon would mean we have a lot more room to manoeuvre both this and next summer.

Yeah that makes sense mate, but I suppose where we differ is that I think that we have to act now, as next season we will be signing and selling 15/16 players as we will 100% be relegated if we don’t get off our arses and do something pretty much immediately

Worrying that people think a striker will be a magic bullet.

From first three games I think we need around three new starters - and like you said that only gives us a fighting chance.

When you are trying to negotiate transfers you can’t be fully transparent with your financial position just to appease the fans

I see we are now favourites with Bournemouth and Forest with the bookies to go down.

Sounds about right tbf.

Other teams look like they at least carry a threat and may all take points off each other. You now have promoted teams coming up spending a lot of money. Teams are getting stronger.

People called it last year though. Our escape last year was just a sign of things to come. We had to get business sorted before the season started and every transfer needed to be on the money for us to drag ourselves up the table. Turns out we couldn’t even replace our best player from last year.

If you want a template of how not to handle a transfer window Everton provided it.

I think - just as last January's window ensured a relegation scrap - so too has this summer window. No lessons learned whatsoever.

And we've only got 32 more matches to claw our way out of the relegation zone (if we drop into the relegation zone, which we haven't yet).

Please wake me for panic.

I think our transfer strategy will do OK in the Championship. We seem to be good at recruiting for that level

Don't know what makes me more sad, the fact we have an actual 22/23 relegation thread or that I'm posting on it on Aug 21st. God save my soul this season I think we're gonna need divine intervention this time.

I would love to come in here and call everyone bedwetters, but this is the harsh reality.

We escaped by the skin of our teeth last season, and now everyone around us has strengthened.
Unless we sign 2 or 3 attacking players we are absolutely going down. Surely everyone can see this apart from the board?
